Discussion: Tom Cotton: 'Obamacare Nationalized The Student Loan Industry'

Uhhh… Wait, what?

When Republicans talk about “efficiencies”, they mean cutting poor people off of a program they need.

Nationalizing the student loan industry is the second best way to finance higher education, the best way being to just make college education a government entitlement. Truly, fully privatizing student loans, with no government subsidies, would’ve been the third best idea.

The worst possible solution is the Republican, private profit and socialized risk model: banks get to process the loans and charge whatever exorbitant, subprime interest rate they want, while the government underwrites the loan and absorbs the default risk.

Cotton, just the kind of candidate ignorant Arkansans will flock to.

Who exactly does it help? Besides make believe, phony, disgruntled, monkey wrench tossing, happy to be the turd in the punchbowl, whiners?

And in the next sentence he said “brockobama brockobama brockobama” He said that about 80 times in this debate and about 76 time in the debate a few days ago. The Kochs sent out a memo and Cotton certainly got it. He sounds like a robot and has a sweaty upper lip. He lies and offers nothing but “brockobama”

Of all the issues he could talk about and he picks THIS one???

They’re working at the edges Tom. More crumbs for the students but when the banks come calling, it’s Porterhouse steak (with portobello mushrooms). I’m thinking a presidential EO forgiving student debt above $50K, not the BS EO capping at 10% of monthly income Obama signed. But I guess that’s considered way too liberal.

??? Em, huh? Sorry maybe I’m insufficiently caffeinated this morning.

Rather than nationalize student loans, let’s just give all Americans a college education free of charge. That work for you, Mr. Cotton?

Not too liberal, Darcy. But you’ve got to do the work to elect enough people committed to your agenda to pass that agenda through the House and the Senate, and hope you’ve got a president who will sign it. Not everyone is signed on to your agenda. I am, believe me. I’m jumping right on board. But you need a majority, as Adlai Stevenson said.

Your hated nemesis NOBAMMYHITLERIDIAMINPOLPOTCOMMIEKENYANFASCIST, whom you seem to spend your golden retirement days and years stewing about with seething resentment, worked hard enough and long enough and with enough people to get his health care agenda passed, and for all that it wasn’t perfect as if he had written it himself, but nevertheless, he did it.

So now it’s your turn. Forgive Student Debt! Get to work, Darcy. I’m your biggest fan: The Dark Cloud. DarC. (just kidding)

Check the batteries in your snark detector and then give it a light tap. That should do it.

Well, he really didn’t, but Tom, so what if he did? Really.

I have FedEx-ed a French horn to Pryor forthwith

Too late Tom, the fix is in. Write your letters and work a phone bank and send in five bucks every once in a while and … eventually …

Be happy for the crumbs if you so wish but either we elect a progressive or go back to the sixties with organized protests in every state until they get tired of arresting us and we blow out the local town budgets.

Sure Darcy, I’m on it. Right with you all the way. All those progressives we elected back then, ahhhh them wuz the days, the good ole days, ehhh? Back in the 1960’s when we elected a buncha progressives.

Not trying to be mean, O Dar-C. I can’t remember, did they ever get tired of arresting us?

Back at you x2
