What the hell??
Praising with faint damn?
Democrats worked the ACA for 18 months. There were multiple public hearings. Repubs offered many amendments, and over 100 were accepted.
Repubs have no idea how to govern. They are not fit for any office. Where have we heard that before?
Hey, asswipe, you’ve been passing bills to repeal and replace for 7 fucking years. You should have had the details worked out.
Where is the real Tom Cotton and what have you done with him? Or is the Arkansas Medicaid expansion so popular that it has actually changed his political calculations?
I remember the Rethugs and Bohener yelling that the Dems were ramming the ACA down peoples throats. So in 2017 its called “moved a bit too fast”.
Fundamental error here: Dems spent that much time building it because they wanted to know how to make health care as universal as the 60th most liberal Senator would allow.
No matter how much time Republicans put into this project (and they’ve had seven years), it won’t alter the fact that they want to take health care away from 24 million people and give the insurance industry carte blanche to sell worthless junk to the rest of us. If they hold hearings, they’ll hear opinions they don’t want to hear and they’ll ignore them in order to get back to taking health care away from 24 million people. Therefore, the idea that they should have held more hearings is, like most of Tom Cotton’s opinions, a sham.
Haste makes waste.
And if you’re wasted it’s hard to make anything.
…except a 3am Taco Bell run.
“… is the Arkansas Medicaid expansion so popular that it has actually changed his political calculations?..”
Yes, and, I think the little prick is actually capable of some compassion. Did you see that segment of his town meeting in which the one woman told him she would literally die without the ACA as she has a fatal disease that would preclude her from any kind of medical insurance. There may have been a 2nd woman also.
My own stepdaughter has lupus, could not get ANY kind of health insurance before the ACA. Now she gets treatment and Rx’s.
Psychopaths not capable of compassion – only affected compassion.
Not sure taking longer would have made an difference. When you have no real desire to ensure all Americans have access to healthcare taking years would not have made the bill any better.
So we’re admitting that the Democrats were open with the public, included Republicans in the process, and didn’t “jam the bill through”?
If so, then we’re admitting the GOP has been lying about Obamacare and the process it took to passage for seven years.
Oh, yeah …
I think you’re probably correct in the Medicaid expansion idea but Cotton’s not up for re-election for a while so I wouldn’t have expected this so soon.
"I'm not saying that we needed 14 months to do this,"
Cotton said. "But I think that a more careful and deliberate
approach, which we now have time to do because we're
going to have to revisit health care anyway, would have
gotten us further down the path toward a solution."
A pretty clear endorsement to vote DEMOCRATS ! —
He’s getting all presidenty again. Although, I agree with @greycardinal that there just isn’t a plan they can coalesce around, at least not one that will be popular with voters.
“We now have the time to do it in a more deliberate and careful fashion,” Cotton said.
Actually, you’ve had the time for the past seven years.
“He said that Democrats used public hearings and testimony, and noted that Obama held town halls on the plan, which he also discussed in a speech to a joint session of Congress.”
Typical dirty tricks by the Democrats!
Yeah, giving Americans more time to sniff around the GOP’s delectable diarrhea burger is going to close the deal for sure. They had one shot at pulling off this depraved bait and switch and they blew it.
