Discussion for article #234054
Thanks for all the background.
The background explains the odd statement about “the start of this investigation is suspect”.
I’m glad the DoJ is bringing charges… it doesn’t matter that Menendez is a Dem… if the allegations are proven then he should pay…
having said that…
why hasn’t the DoJ gone after Boehner and McConnell? Sedition… personal enrichment at taxpayers expense or personal knowledge from Congressional hearing…
we want CLEAN government… or at least Representatives and Senators smart enough to not get caught…
sorry for my Mr Smith Goes to Washington romanticism…
AIPAC and Adelson can’t save you now, you crooked, warmongering sonofabitch.
There is just something in the air in New Jersey. I drive through once a year and I always have this weird urge to knock over a liquor store.
Ha ha! I agree! I “suspect” your ass is in a sling, brother!
Corruption is the beer to Jersey’s pizza.
I wish I could remember the name of the guy who, after he’d rolled on everybody he could think of, got the book thrown in his face by a frustrated judge who said he was tired of the culture in Jersey hellbent on corruption. The prosecutor and the defense attorney looked at each other in near-shock as the judge threw the guy’s ass off the edge of the world.
What creeped me out was the suggestion that Christie might be interested in Menendez’ seat if he resigns. Senator Chris Christie? Gak!!!
Eh, history shows people are very hostile to anyone who pulls that kind of stunt. (I remember Nate Silver writing a piece about this a few years ago.)
Appointing yourself to a senate seat in a purple state is a pretty good way to end your political career in shame. With Christie’s numbers, he’d be a fool to even consider it.
I’ll bet crooked politicians in flyover states are jealous of all the coverage New Jersey’s crooks are getting.
“We’re gonna need a bigger seat…”
