So sad, loved Prince. Purple Rain was on cable yesterday and I caught a good bit of it. Loved it when it came out and fun to see 80’s nostalgia again. So sad he passed at such an early age.

Multiple sources connected to the singer confirmed he had passed.
The singer – full name Prince Rogers Nelson – had a medical emergency on April 15th that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois. But he appeared at a concert the next day to assure his fans he was okay. His people told TMZ he was battling the flu.
Truly bummed.
I just got feeling better about Bowie. 
Aside from being shocked that he’s passed away, I was also taken back at his being 57. I will always remember him as a young, fiercely talented musician. He’s one of those who pretty much defining the 1980’s. (Yeah, I’m getting to an age where passed on at 57 is quite young to me).
A classic Prince tribute.
If he really thought he had flu, it might have been sepsis. Happened to a relatively young person I met a couple of years ago. Thought she was just sick and woke up dead.
Holy fuck. I honestly expected Prince to have a Dylan-like comeback someday and be rockin’ the funky jams into his 80’s. Did not see this coming at all, despite his occasional looniness in interviews (which Dylan could certainly be guilty of too, particularly from the late 1970’s-early 1990s).
Without a doubt, one of the greatest popular songwriters of the late 20th C.
A star. And star-maker.

Another loss for those who love music and creativity. Very sad that he died so young. 
Eccentric but hugely, hugely talented. I don’t think you could name too many genres of popular music he wasn’t a master of, or that he couldn’t absorb into his approach.
