Where in the world is the USS Carl Vinson?
With Carmen Sandiego.
“We don’t generally give out ship schedules in advance"
Except to Fat Leonard.
Who among us hasn’t misplaced an aircraft carrier?
According to the Esquire article linked above “This episode does not seem to be a lie as much as it seems to be a further demonstration of the clusterfckish management style there at Camp Runamuck.”
“It seems much more like the White House and the President got sloppy, didn’t know exactly what was happening and through sloppiness and bravado created an impression that simply wasn’t true.”
So it’s not malice and treachery all the time then. I feel so much better.
Spicey must be wearing out his shoes by the dozens with all the tap-dancing around his bosses’ policy comments he has to do to justify them.
Still, the submarine reference in the Maria interview bugs me. I thought we did not ever talk about sub deployment. Diarrhea of the mouth…
I recommend we dispatch the USS Trump to the Korean peninsula. It’s a gold-plated treasure barge piled high with mountains of human excrement that serve as home to hundreds of plague rats. But for the occasional methane burp, it’s truly the tip of the spear of Donnie’s armada.
Sinking ship, foundering, at sea, Titanic, shipwreck, on the shoals, Ship of State, armada. Armada? Did Trump just see Treasure Island?
Amazed the working press is able to keep a straight face.
The strange part of this whole story is that the Reagon carrier group is off the east coast of Japan. VP Pence was on the carrier this week during his visit to Japan. The Reagan is only a days steam from the Sea of Japan. Why send Carl V from Australia? Does the White House have any ideas where the Navy’s most important assets are?
I guess the only question I have is why the military and all of the Donald’s former military cabinet and staff allow this? It just makes us look stupid. Is it possible that the Donald and his inner circle are so clueless that they didn’t know we already have a carrier group stationed in Japan as well as Marine and Air Force wings there?
Where in the world is the USS Carl Vinson?
Poor Donnie Darko and the Spicerian just got confused as to which body of water the Carl Vinson was actually heading toward. After all, there are so many oceans and seas: big ones, little ones, more or less salty, how can one not be bewildered.
I think that she was on her way to ports unknown until she got a call from him to let her know that she might be needed elsewhere so maybe she should just steam around for a while until her order was dreamt up by him and tweeted via super secure red phone.
Because they refer to the damn strike force as she a lot, it doesn’t make the idjits that have her doing donuts in the ocean look any brighter.
Besides, her name is Carl.
I understand Trump not appreciating the importance of knowing where our various carrier groups are at all times, but except for Tillerson, every important person on Trump’s foreign policy team is a former general officer. Those guys should want to know where all of our major assets are all the time, especially in a world where their boss is all about using bombs as displays of American power. I have lost a lot of confidence in the all “star” team advising Trump.
If the Japanese had pushed their advantage we would have lost a major battle because of Halsey’s blunder. My father was assigned to an escort carrier that was part of Taffy 3 during the battle of Samar. His aircraft launched ill equipped to engage cruisers and battleships (they had been armed to attack land targets) and had to find another carrier to land on when they came back. His carrier was sunk.
I realize why Steve Bannon left the Navy…
