Perfect. Bravo. Trump of course, said he didn’t see how it could be anyone but, and I quote, “Trump.”

It’s a little bit navel-gazey to say that this was the only appropriate choice, but it’s basically a US magazine. In this moment, this was the only appropriate choice for a US magazine.

Good choice!

Having said that, I might have gone with Putin for two reasons:

  1. He really is behind a lot of the news these days.
  2. Would really like to see Trump’s reaction, since it would be a tacit nod to Trump being his puppet.

The “guardians” are slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi

What happened to Khashoggi was horrible. It is a disgrace that his real murderers and their various accomplices will never see justice.

But let’s not forget that, in “the war on truth,” Khashoggi was not always on the right side. Before he was a dissident he was part of the ruling faction and editor of a leading Saudi paper, in which capacity he not only toed the (then) government’s line, he also occasionally (but literally) sold his voice to the highest bidder.

Needless to say, Time’s editors are aware of all this. They’re “guardians,” too.

But did his head explode? I really wanted this pick to make his head explode. :boom: :tada:

There was no way Time was going to make Fat Nixon Person of the Year. Next year, it will be Mueller.

A very good but very sad choice.
I’ll be there will be at least one objection to this.

Can’t wait for it to be Mueller!

There was a time (no pun intended) when this meant a lot more than it does now. I can remember when you would see the face of the Man of the Year (that’s what it was back then) staring out from Time’s cover on every newsstand and check-out counter in America for an entire week, and it would stay in people’s minds. Sometimes, the magazine got flack (Hitler was the Man of the Year one year, because he was the biggest newsmaker), but whoever was chosen, the title was influential. In part, because Time and it’s partner, Life, had more influence than any of the media, including Faux, does now.

They day is young. And despite what you’ve heard, he’s almost certainly in Stage II hypertension at least.

Speaking of which, has BLOTUS found a new drunk doc to lie about his height, weight, health and mental fitness? He does have another physical due next month, if he’s still in the WH. :joy:

No idea but I think he has. Do you suppose the doc will tell him to “avoid stress”? I always loved it when they told me that.
