Agreed. He has said other things in the past that clearly indicate he is sensitive to racism and the reality of it in America. I guess that is why I am puzzled about his Republicanism, because to be in the Republican party today is to basically embrace racism.

I admire your optimism, but my guess is that with blue notes gone and only a simple majority required, McConnell is going to stack the courts as fast as his evil little mind will let him. This is still a Republican wet dream, Trump or no Trump.
What’s interesting is the release of the Department of Justice memo written under President George H.W. Bush that got into Farr’s work for Helms in North Carolina. Say what you want about H.W at least for the most part the civil rights division in his administration under John Dunne had career professionals committed to public service. Under W it kind of atrophied.
