During his Senate campaign against former Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC), Tillis announced his support for over-the-counter birth control, which likely contradicts Talento’s views on contraception.
What? A politician said something he doesn’t believe in to get elected? I’ll be damned!
It’s okay. When Tillis only said he was for making birth control pills OTC. He didn’t say he intended to actually do anything as a Senator to make them OTC. (Which, on balance is a good thing given that anyone who’s not a total ignoramus knows enough about the different kinds of oral contraception to know why medical supervision and monitoring is necessary.)

Making them OTC is a backdoor way of denying birth control to millions of people who will no longer be able to afford that medication.

It was a Koch-funded Luntz-tested way for them to evade answering whether insurance companies should have to pay for them. But they never had, and never will have, any intention of doing anything about it because Abortion and Slut Pills. The right wingers got that. The conspicuous lack of any outcry from the religious right generally, or conservative Catholics specifically, was the glaring tell of that. Which, of course, our ever-sharp MSM failed to notice using their checklist approach to journalism. Ask a question, get an answer, check the box, pat yourself on the back for holding the powerful accountable, and move on to the next question.

Against Ron Johnson, Joni Ernst and Inhofe? Shoot, he’s dumb, no question about it, but he’s strictly J.V. dumb and, barring a neurological injury or electoral turnover, he’ll never make varsity in the Senate.
And lord-a-mercy, he’d be strictly intramural level in the House Stupidity League.
Not saying I’m not deeply ashamed, chagrined and appalled, of course.
