There are simply never enough shovels to clean up the shit in Trumpâs wake. Hope Tillersonâs enjoying his âhands-onâ time with the clean-up crew.
Cotton, Graham, Cruz, Paul to sabotage said deal in 3, 2, 1âŚ
This is complex stuff, not because the structure of the basic deal is complex, it is not, but because domestic US politics around the deal are complex. As we all know, the basic deal is that Iran agrees to a verifiable dismantling of its nuclear program, and the big economic powers agree to lift some of the economic sanctions against Iran. The complexity comes from the way the Obama administration and Congressional leaders agreed to fuzz up everything in order to get the deal in place, while providing political cover for politicians on all sides of the deal to claim victory and go on to other issues.
It is this âDeal of Fuzzâ that the article (unsurprisingly) misses. Under current law, the refusal of the president to certify or recertify doesnât automatically trigger anything. It can amount to a political statement signifying no substantive change whatsoever. However, if the president doesnât recertify, he has a plausible excuse for reimposing some or all of the economic sanctions that he already had (and never gave up) to reimpose some of the economic sanctions that US law has always authorized and has never given up. Doing so would, of course, among other things, tank the enormous economic benefit to American companies, like Boeing, that are selling goods to Iran.
So, if Trump wants to make a political statement, without putting thousands of South Carolina workers on the street, then he can refuse to certify, claim victory and go on to something else. If he wants to screw over Senator Graham and South Carolina voters, he can do more.
To me, whatâs notable is Tillerson says heâs working with Congress to stay in the Iran deal. Not Trump, but Congress.
Just underscores what Wolff outlined: our dear President has the attention span of a two-year-old hopped up on twinkies and doughnuts, and likely has no idea whatâs actually in the deal.
And most of his senior staff, such as Tillerson and McMaster, are on record stating Trump is an idiot or a moron. Just another reason to bypass him, box him in, or perhaps even mislead him as to what the deal actually states in order to do whatâs truly in our national interest.
This is where we appear to be. A Superpower run by a guy no one respects.
So, the âworst deal everâ can be âfixedâ by putting something in front of the totally stable genius to sign, that does nothing to substantively change the agreement, but which they can tell the fucking moron makes it âstrongerâ and make him look like a tough leader and helps make America great again.
Donât let the fucking moron know what youâre up to.
And the irony is that the GOP Congress added the requirement for the president to recertify every three months as a regularly scheduled cudgel with which they could browbeat Obama and then Clinton about the deal; but instead weâve got the Totally Stable Genius, and itâs his regularly scheduled reminder that the deal still exists, and that reportedly drives him (more) crazy every time he has to sign it. So as @rickjones says, they need to come up with some meaningless piece of bs (that Fox wonât report as such) to put in front of him to âfixâ the deal, the one legitimately essential component of which will be to get rid of the TSG-triggering recertification requirement.
Trumpâs aides have said the president loathes having to give a thumbs-up to Iran every three months.
President Trump, who does not deal well with facts or the real universe, loathes having to say Iran is in compliance. Because it makes him look weak to the testosterone draft dodger universe of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the like. This is a problem which exists totally inside the Russian Stooge Presidentâs head, for which his political party is having to scramble to solve while they still have a majority in congress.
Supposed 'worst deal ever in front of self-imagined âstable geniusâ.
It isnât a bad deal and was a great first step in fact but butthurt Dotard is still in a hurt feefee breakdown because he was laughed at at a comical roast basically.
The reason that Tillerson is only working on superficial changes is due to the very fact that Obama already got the best deal that could be had at the time and under all circumstances. Just like the ACA, Obama preeminently took their sinister chess moves away from them.
Trounce isnât for disarmament, heâs for bigger buttons. DOH!
Always great to hear from Chief Eunuch Rex Tillerson.
But , but , Donny promised a war within six months . ( And Donny ALWAYS keep his promises ) .
