Discussion: Tillerson: Trump Talked Comey Firing With Russians To Prove He Wasn't 'Distracted'

So if Tillerson is representative businessman, do we have to conclude that every CEO of a major corporation is an idiot?

Or for that matter, Iā€™m pretty sure there are many historic Islamic sites in Yemen. I happened to be reading the very excellent wiki article on Yemen a few weeks ago. The history is incredibly rich, and extremely bloody.

Which, of course, was why he was elected, to ā€œimproveā€ the US-Russia relationship.

These daily forays into Trump Crazytown cannot go on forever. As Ruth Marcus said yesterday in the WaPo:

ā€œā€¦an adage from conservative economist Herb Stein comes to mind: If something cannot go on forever, it will stop. This situation does not feel sustainable for a full four years.ā€

I still have Hope Hicks as the future spokesperson.

Keeping with the baseball talk, Sanders is basically a couple of errors from becoming Matt Lindstrom and giving up a political ā€˜grand slamā€™.

But see, thatā€™s the thing. Notwithstanding the ungodly amount he was paid and that the company makes, a mature, quasi-monopolistic, not-very-diversified behemoth like Exxon (though there isnā€™t really anything else like Exxon) where every single line of business is, itself, a mature business isnā€™t all that hard to run because it basically runs itself, just on sheer inertia. Certainly far less difficult to run than taking a bleeding edge tech company into the little known and oft-derided land known as ā€œProfitability.ā€ Sure, itā€™s a business with a lot of complexity, but all of those complexities flow along well worn ruts.

Exxon has better than a century of inertia, moving it along like a supertanker. It doesnā€™t turn abruptly, it doesnā€™t deviate from its course. The only thing the CEO really has to do is keep it in the middle of the marked channel and periodically dance the highly stylized mating dance with foreign leaders that results in a standardized corrupt bargain.

Sounds like the time I visited Disneyland when I was 4 years old, and ā€œpilotedā€ the riverboat.

My mom used to admonish me ā€œyouā€™re known by the company you keepā€.

(I used to hate how right she often wasā€¦)

Holy shit! So he basically rex came right out and said that trump was letting his handlers know heā€™s still capable of jerking as they pull the strings? That one possible interpretation at least.

Well,if so Hope will be brought in in a non-save situation soon. Of course if sheā€™s a closer type sheā€™ll be ineffective without the deadline pressure.*

*Remember that Trump signed an EO lifting the Obama-era regs on scrambled methaphors. I submitted an amicus brief in that case.

I think (hedging) that sheā€™s learning what not to do.

What she learns will be important at some point.

Excessive rumor mongering was a big issue last yearā€¦s----

from last yearā€¦he was talking about how Drew Pinsky was wrong for joining in the ā€˜Clinton is sickā€™ rumors.

Itā€™d be great if he was ā€œhelpingā€ Donnie, because it would smack of desperation. I understood that the Rich family had gotten a cease-and-desist.

Until that Hofstra debate happened, those rumors helped Donnie a lot, last year.

Bigly assists.

I think the honest, come-to-Jesus moment headline Tillerson would like to have said:

ā€œTrump Talked Comey Firing With Russians To Prove Heā€™s An Asshole.ā€
