I like to imagine that Trump and his entourage have hired people to check out the bios of the new investigators being added to Mueller’s team - and that they then have nightmares when they read about their areas of expertise.
You mean the CEO of Exxon is not happy about the pipeline deal worth $500 billion being blocked because of the sanctions, and Putin’s money-launderer and puppet doesn’t like it either?
I’m shocked.
Yep. For all his love of fake gold-leaf, Trump has the Midas touch in reverse: Everyone he comes into contact with turns to shit.
I was talking with a friend who lives in Estonia and they are very worried about the lack of conviction by Trump against Putin’s clear intentions to try to reclaim Estonia and Latvia. The Russians under Putin have already started building up troop support facilities along the border and have been making practice incursions into Estonia’s border towns.
Our allies have no confidence in Trump and Rex Tillerson. If McConnell and Ryan allow this to continue, the day will come when the US is left totally on its own by our Western European allies.
Russia is our #1 enemy and Putin is the most dangerous terrorist in the world. And Trump defends him and is afraid to stand up to him. Putin will walk all over the US if allowed - he only understands might. And Trump and Tillerson have way too many conflicts of interest for the US people and for our most important allies to trust.
McConnell and Ryan better wake up and fast!
Tillerson is “not very happy” about the sanctions bill for a very good reason. It’s probably going to cost him money. I have objected to his being confirmed from the beginning because of his former position as CEO of Exxon-Mobil. Specifically, Rex Tillerson, a businessman who has some of the most deep and long-standing ties to the Russian political and business elite of any American succeeded in the same scheme that the odious Scaramucci planned to foist on the American taxpayers, except he failed. Maybe he wasn’t as smart. In order to accept the job of secretary of state, he was forced by ethics laws to resign as CEO of Exxon-Mobil, just a few months before he would’ve reached mandatory retirement age. Since he did that, he undoubtedly received a HUGE tax abatement on his $180 million dollar buyout.
I think we have to assume in the current client that Tillerson is a bought and paid for shill of the Kremlin. Look at some of his actions, or rather his inaction before and since.
- When he was CEO, Exxon-Mobil violated sanctions put in place to punish the Russian invasion of Ukraine. ExxonMobil paid a $2 million fine–likely tax deductible, and chump change-- for violating sanctions put in place to punish Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2014.
- When he was CEO of Exxon-Mobil, Before Tillerson became Secretary of State, in 2013, Putin presented Tillerson with the Russian Order of Friendship award. That in itself might not be suspicious, except in the current “Kremlin Oval Office Ownership” environment.
- Tillerson is also friends with the head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, a former interpreter who worked as chief of staff for Putin when he was deputy mayor in St Petersburg in the mid-1990s. Sechin, sometimes described as the second-most-powerful man in Russia, is now under US sanctions. Undoubtedly, he wants the president to lift those sanctions so he can commit his mischief on American soil.
- Back in April 2017, Exxon applied for waiver from sanctions on Russia. Among departments who must approve: State Department, run by company’s ex-CEO.
I am not noted for having a great imagination. It doesn’t take much to discern just what is going on here. Until we dislodge the Kremlin–root and branch–from the Oval Office, it will continue to meddle in our affairs, and damage not just our politics, but our place on the planet. That means it’s not just the President who has to go: it includes the entire White House staff and also also means the Secretary of State and the Attorney General also must go. I’ve read that the Vice President, who is apparently writing his inaugural address, knew all about the “Russian connections” of Mike Flynn and lied about it. That makes him a co-conspirator. Similarly, the Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan (who according to the Constitution is third on the buck list for promotion to the office of President if both Trump and Pence are dumped simultaneously) is at least marginally involved in Russian money laundering, perhaps just to the extent of knowing it was going on and sitting silent.
Give him a break . He’s down to his last 100 million . He’s living hand to mouth. He’ll be eating the leather off the seats of his Bentley soon
Word is he’s been eating Trump steaks.
It’ll be an improvement.
Well, Tilly, the American people aren’t happy at all with your pro-oligarch position on just about everything. You’re failure to mention human rights and your current consideration of removing promotion of democracy from the state dept’s mission statement are reprehensible. With advocates like you, this country’s standing in the world is headed for the bottom of the toilet (it’s already in the toilet in many countries). May your tenure be short so your disloyalty to the values of this republic become no more than an ugly footnote in our history. .
I’m not worried about Rexxon and Dear Leaker taking flight. Since Air Force One’s not involved, it will be a very short trip. And they will absolutely stick the landing
Or veto it–either way it’s law. Sad.
Right. He’s handling the dilemma like the child he is by pretending it doesn’t exist.
Maybe he should tell his boss that his being Putin’s pool boy embarrasses the hell out of most Americans who thought they were the world’s only remaining super power right up to the day Mr. Small Hands was elected. Now we are second or third tier.
They are complicit. And sound asleep at the wheel of their elected positions.
Any attempt to counter the Russian misinformation campaign would be counter to the interests of Exxon. The man does have his priorities. Service to his country is waaaaaay down that list.
Definition of kleptocracy A government by those who seek chiefly status and personal gain at the expense of the governed.
So, Klepto-Plutocracy. Is that a thing? Sure seems like it.
It is now.
Me either.
