Discussion: Tillerson Breaks With ExxonMobil Ahead Of Senate Confirmation Hearings

Rex Tillerson is severing ties with ExxonMobil in order to avoid conflicts of interest and comply with federal ethics law

Well, nice to see someone on Team Trump knows how to do this. Maybe he can walk the Orange Menace through it.

“As long as I get to keep my Order of Friendship award for doing ExxonMobil’s bidding and my millions of dollars in ExxonMobil stock, I have no complaints,” Tillerson said.

He then burst into a rousing rendition of the Roy Ingraham and Harry Tobias classic “No Regrets”.

lol…yea sure…but on a more serious note…nice to see the government being run by guys that get 200 million dollar retirement packages…while they work overtime to cut SOCIAL SECURITY…because 2000 dollars a month is just to much for a retired working stiff to live on.

what magic these guys possess that starting on jan 20th they no longer are the cretins that beat down/stole every penny they could…from the working class…and will magically become CHAMPIONS! of those same people.

THESE are the guys trumps puppet is pledged to work with…SHAME! on you!

is this like when Darth Cheney cuts his ties with Halliburton as VP?

No. Sorry, this “divestment” of ExxonMobil company shares STILL doesn’t erase his deep ties to the company (the only company he’s ever worked for as an adult) nor does it supercede his ties to Russia.

It’s great to see when someone suffers so much personal sacrifice in order to serve his country.

On the contrary, I’m sure the orange menace has walked him through Lying Through Your Teeth 101.

“According to ExxonMobil, the value of 2 million company shares which Tillerson would have received over the next 10 years would be transferred to an independently-managed trust, to be donated to charity if Tillerson violates a rule prohibiting him from working in the oil or gas industry for the next 10 years.”

In other words, Tillerson is guaranteeing a financial interest in ExxonMobil and gets to choose his method of corruption depending on market conditions. Tillerson could retire after his secretary of state job, in which case he gets his shares back. Or, he can give the shares to charity, get a big tax write off, and get a job with Exxon. Either way, ExxonMobil’s interests (and as an extension, Russia’s interests), are his prime objective.

Oh man there is no way NO WAY he could possibly do an oil deal with Russia. It’s not like he personally knows Putin. Right? Oh wait…not right.

So , if he uses Exxon/Mobile products for any of his vehicles…?

So Tillerson is actually doing what Don the Con should do and divest completely? If this is true and not a sham, Tillerson’s confirmation hearings should focus on two issues. One is comparing and contrasting Tillerson’s divestiture with Trump keeping involved with his family business. (The other is Tillerson’s close friendship with Putin).

Southern Californians paid a dollar more a gallon for gas for a year or so than the rest of the country under Tillerson’s watch. A refinery disaster in Torrance shut it down for over a year. Guess what? The refinery wasn’t properly maintained.t

Does this mean that employees of Exxon Mobil can now voice opinions about man-influenced climate change without fear of reprisal?
