Discussion: Thousands Of North Carolina Teachers To Force Political Showdown Over Funding

“The fact that a million kids are not going to be in school (Wednesday)…"

I don’t think there can be any doubt that the Reactionaries are really concerned about the welfare of the children and aren’t just using them as a cudgel to enforce labor discipline.
Just look at the way DHS stands up for the integrity of the families arrested at the border for unauthorized immigration.

So it’s not just about teacher pay, it’s teachers as the vanguard of returning the state to sanity. Btw, love the AP reporting with a straight face that the GOP calls cancelling a tax cut “raising taxes”.

I love it that all these red-state teachers are fed up to the point they’re striking and marching. Teachers aren’t a fringey bunch, as a rule, even if there are a couple of “Question Authority” bumper stickers in the parking lot. They’re well-known in their communities, and if they say there’s a serious problem I think people will listen.

I hope they don’t blink. The only way this works, really works, is if they force it all the way through the ballot box.

“The fact that a million kids are not going to be in school (Wednesday) because a political organization wants to have folks come there to communicate with us or send a message” should be the day’s focus, said state Senate leader Phil Berger, a Republican.

Yes, god forbid you should focus on the message that, every day but today, there will be 1.5 million kids in schools that have a huge maintenance and repair backlog, rely on outdated and worn out textbooks, and are losing the ability to attract and retain the best quality teachers.

In the long run, there is nothing more business friendly than investing in the education of children.

I swear, if automobile manufacturers since the days of Henry Ford had run their businesses the way the current GOP does when they “run the government like a business”, the auto companies would be trying to compete with imports by asking for tax breaks for new facilities to produce starter cranks and carburetors.

Do love how in Republican=speak cancelling a tax cut is “raising taxes.”

Perhaps the Senator is a product of North Carolina education? Or home-schoolin?

Plus if a lot a younger they are probably going to tend to be more left leaning.

I’m guessing probably white supremacist, religious type.
