Discussion: This Might Be The Weirdest, Creepiest Ad Of The 2014 Election Cycle

Discussion for article #227943

Give it time. They can do weirder than this. But can anyone anywhere beat the demon sheep ad of 2010? That remains to be seen.

My gut feeling is this ad will play as well as the Uncle Sam replacing the doctor ad. Ugh.

There is also a bunch of projection here on why women would have voted for Obama over McCain and Romney. Because she thought he was good looking and articulate and just had a big old crush.

They just can’t get over the cult of personality stuff.

What are they going to do in 2016…a “I was in love with Hillary” ad?

Nah—too Lesbian.
It would only excite the more-or-less male base.

The last time I purchased a bottle of his swill was back in the mid nineties. It’s over-priced and just another bottle of over-priced high alcohol boring Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nice to see Jordan’s political leanings and social tendencies on display in this ad teeming with Todd Aikenism! I was waiting to see when GOTPers would start stepping in it,

They really can’t grasp that voters preferred Obama twice because they thought he would be, and then was, a better president than their guy. It has to be irrational fascination, political correctness run amok, any other explanation. I just don’t see how you can be an effective political person if you can’t perceive something that basic. This is going to persuade women, this bundle of misleading garbage? I don’t think so. Wasted money, rich boy.

Castrating pigs comes close. That woman is a real “Ball buster”. A regular female John Wayne. Not much more weirder than that, except maybe Uncle Sam looking up a woman’s vajayjay.

Another example of how the Republicans just don’t “get” women, and think they’re not smart enough to figure things out.

ProTip, fuckers: They’re on to the whole “choosing your doctor” canard.

OMFFSM.

Is this the GOP candidate for Senator in Oregon? Because, on an emotional level, I want to run away from the character in the ad. She has these snarling microexpressions that bring to mind a predator out to stalk you down. And, is the character supposed to represent women voters when she talks about the attraction to Obama being primarily emotional?

On an intellectual level, what is the alternative the ad proposes to Obama if you share the character’s stated objections to the Obama policies?

Is the GOP fighting hard against NSA overreach? Is the ad suggesting women want to sacrifice access to birth control, in return for the pre-ACA level of uncertainty about keeping your doctor (subject to keeping your job with health insurance, and subject to employer keeping the same plans in place, and subject to the insurers keeping the same provider networks in place, and subject to your doctor remaining with the provider network)?

Strange…bad…weird…yup it is all of those. Its also full of shit. Why not call it down for that? Again with the “free birth control” lie and again with " cant keep my doctor" one. So call the fucking lie down for Christ’s sake rather than let it become conventional wisdom.

“But he won’t even let me keep my own doctor.”

just more of that “IF YOU WANT TO TAKE MY LOUSY, OVERPRICED HEALTH IUNSURANCE FROM ME YOU’LL HAVE TO PRY IT FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS” insanity.

This ad doesn’t have sexist undertones- it has sexist OVERTONES. The sexism is so easily on display that it is like an elephant in the middle of the hallway. It’s hard NOT to notice it.

Quite frankly, the GOP doesn’t get that women want abortion rights, women want access to contraception, and women want equal wages and ads like this aren’t going to change the minds of women who are already against the GOP.

Did Jordan actually pay for this after he saw it?

…he and his money are soon parted…
