Discussion: THIS CHART: How GOP O'Care Plan Shifts Tax Credits From The Poor To The Rich

Must be an early Pubbie April Fool joke. A $4,000 tax credit for somebody over 60? Somebody over 60 is very likely to have a pre-existing condition that will disqualify them from everything but a high risk pool. The last time I checked my state’s high risk pool, it would cost somebody over 60 about $1,000 per month for a policy with a $5,000 deductible. That is about $17,000 per year if you have a significant medical problem and more than 4 times the tax credit. Maybe we should thank Pubbies for being so generous towards those getting into their “golden years.”

Not to worry.

Older people will be able to pay more for health care after Republicans cut their Social Security.

Simpler chart needed! Sorry, a bit tired today.

GOP: Tax Cuts are not enough. Health care must also be free for The Rich.

House Republicans: “Well, what good are tax credits for people who don’t pay taxes?”
Me: “You mean, like Chiselin’ Trump?”

It’s this type of reality that’s going to kill the repeal efforts. Trump can try and tell them it’s cheaper and better than Obamacare, but their pocket books know better. $4000 a year subsidy? What a joke. The average cost for a family of four is $24k per year.

I think we’re finally seeing that elusive “death panel.”

I hope the public isn’t fooled. As for me, all I can hear is Gomer Pyle’s voice saying, "Surprise, surprise. . . "

Appears the GOP just prefers simple math, not accurate or helpful benefits. No need for lower and middle income families and people over 60 to suffer just because the GOP can’t handle complex arithmetic.

GOP: If you are poor and have no job, you should die.

Or if you’re poor and work for a small company or any other employer that sends its workers to the exchanges.

But don’t worry, there will be plenty of new TrumpCare insurance policies that cost only a few hundred bucks a month for old people. They will cover erectile dysfunction, skiing accidents and maternity.

If they had any sense of patriotism and national pride poor and middle income people would just die at age 60, making it easier for the makers to retire in the style they’ve earned over a lifetime of tolerating various proles and vulgarians.

I’m 63 and pay $103/month for a silver tier marketplace plan in NJ (my income consists of primarily SS and a small private pension). Under this plan (which it should be noted is probably a non-starter since House crazies oppose it as overly generous socialistic tyranny), my costs would skyrocket toward unaffordable (and for insurance that would almost certainly cover less with higher deductibles and co-pays). It probably won’t affect me personally that much since I shift to Medicare in 18 months (assuming Ryan, Price & Co. are unsuccessful in gutting it), but this is a ridiculous sham. My only consolation is a pure jolt of schadenfreude for all the Drumpf voters who are going to be so screwed. (Unfortunately, they will probably sicken and die with a warm glow since losing insurance means less to them than making sure “those people” don’t have it.)

Republicans hate the poor and the middle class. The love the 1 percent. Is anyone really surprised???

If the republicans gut SS, Medicare / Medicaid and abolish the Affordable Care Act, we will soon have millions of the poor and middle class lined up at soup kitchens, just like during The Great Depression.

This study lends credence to your comment.

Given that most of the GOP electoral support comes from the elderly, you think they’d want to reward them.

That’s why they’ve mostly been proposing to grandfather current recipients of medicare and social security.
