Discussion: THIS CHART: ADL Finds 67 Percent Spike In Anti-Semitic Incidents Since 2016

I didn’t know this of course, but am not shocked. This is what happens when you legitimize bigotry, make people feel comfortable with theirs.

Josh’s editorial “Extraordinary” should have been headlined “Diabolical”.

Now what steps have FB and other social media entities taken to filter this poison?

They seem to be putting greed ahead of their civic responsibilities.

Gee, I wonder why.

No doubt, anti-semitic incidents have increased, but under Greenblatt the ADL is getting less credible. I’m still peeved by his reaction to Kieth Ellison’s clear-headed comments about Israel’s out-sized influence in US policy. ADL has also made comments that cast anti-apartheid divestment activists as anti-semites. Under his leadership, criticism of Israel is often automatically viewed as anti-semitic, regardless of the context.

You’re kidding, right?

“I’m still peeved by his reaction to Kieth Ellison’s clear-headed comments about Israel’s out-sized influence in US policy.”

Wow. What a wretched comment.

Allegra, than you for writing this. 'Cuz historically most people don’t care about antisemitism. It’s the oldest hatred because it’s the most tolerated.

How long before Jared and Ivanka “feel the love”?

This chart is terrible. Both years look equal. This needs to be a bar graph, not a (hollow) pie chart.

Well, we’re ten months into an administration that managed to release a Holocaust Remembrance day statement that did not mention Jews so we probably shouldn’t be too surprised by the numbers.

There’s a certain internal logic to these things.

The POTUS describing torch wielding Nazis chanting “Jews will not replace us” as “very fine people” didn’t help either. Neither did the two Jewish cabinet members silently squirming by his side while he made that depraved statement.

Or make the second doughnut proportionately bigger.

Note that vandalism has apparently increased least. Harassment and attacks more than doubled.
