Discussion for article #227610
Um… I was clicking this expecting it to be some huge amount, or to have some political repercussions. This seems really kind of… generically human interest?
Somewhere in eastern NM there’s a teenager who’d be excited to know that his vandalism made the national news.
If there is a Great Pumpkin–and I like to believe there is–I hope He takes names and kicks asses.
Huffington Points Memo-keep the clicks coming, people, we have quotas!
A truly stunning story. In this world, apparently thieves, probably irresponsible and stupid teens, will do anything. Stealing from pre-schoolers!! How terrible. I hope someone offers a reward for these scum-sucking pigs.
As someone that helps coordinate and care for a community garden in my neighborhood, this kind of thing actually can be really upsetting. Every year we have the same problem with theft. Pumpkins grown in our gardens aren’t for eating…they’re usually the jack-o-lantern variety. If they were for eating, it would be understandable that some theft occurs due to many poor folks looking to scavenge for food…as we often have that take place as well. Many of our gardeners put out food for the taking as a set-aside to avoid having their plants directly picked clean.
With that said, pumpkins take a long time to grow, too. They’re ready to pick after a long season of caring for them. If they’re snatched, well, I can understand the disappointment by little ones in anticipation of reaping the harvest for all their hard work.
With that said…this story really does seem rather generic. Its not particularly germane to what seems like the main thrust of this site. And it is an AP article at that…kind of a space-filler, don’t ya think?
Was there a debutante ball scheduled around that time? Possibly they were converted to carriages.
Also, check for any missing mice.
