John Faso won with 53%, not 67%. He’s a first-termer in a very purple district that is close enough to NYC that it is becoming bluer. Can’t wait to see Congress cleansed of his presence.
When are TownHalls coming up? Think any of these Screw-Overs are gong to host any?
Thank you for identifying the Republicans who were willing to sell out their constituents to help Trump and Speaker Ryan deprive, in the range of, 24 million people of affordable heath care coverage , imperil millions of people with pre-existing conditions ( juvenile diabetes, cystic fibrosis, cancer ,heart defects) and millions of seniors with inferior health care coverage. 2018 is around the corner, and their votes will not be forgotten or forgiven. As your article points out, they voted before the bill was scored by the Congressional Budget Office and despite the fact many of them had not read the bill in its entirety and, consequently, were unaware of its many flaws or its full impact. They own this vote. They will have to answer for this vote in 2018.
Faso just earned himself the opposition of a lot of active Democrats who would have turned our efforts to other races in 2018, thinking that Congress benefits from having some “reasonable” Republicans, as he seemed to be (at least in contrast to so many others). I’m sure it would benefit, but his vote today is in flagrant violation of his own stated position on ACA repeal in addition to being an affront to common sense. No more benefit of the doubt that he might be “reasonable.”
The game at this point is for the Dems in all ways possible to tie this around their necks with every CBO number available and flood the airways about how their Reps sold them out. That simple. The DNC needs to start that.
The GOP built support among their base by hammering this in and the Dems need to do it to everybody. As this is Trump and the GOPs doing.
This is a great list a viable alternative party could use to run candidates in 2018.
Does anyone know if there is one? Anyone? Bueller?
I was just about to say that NY-19 is rated R+2 and Rump barely won the district. This isn’t some deep Red NYS pocket near the Canadian border. The seat should be gettable with the right candidate.
NOT Zephyr Teachout.
