Discussion for article #231330
Every time I see ann coulters repulsive face, a song comes into my mind,"A horse is a horse,
of course… Who in hell gives he/she/it a place in the public discourse? Oh, I know. Its stupid, lazy
tv producers who have no interest in producing news anymore, Just he said/she said garbage. Heres
an idea, why not increase the amount of time for commercials to be run each hour? The consumers
are too stupid to notice anyway.
Now, Wilber-r-r-r…
To me one of the top ten TPM events, not actually a post, is the eradication of trolls that used to flock to these boards intending annoy and antagonize us with their lunacy and derp. I won’t mention any names here but one in particular, a troll with heavy sociopathic tendencies whose life is in the gutter, still will occasionally try to gain a foothold here without success. His latest efforts have taken the Mods less than two minutes to flush away.
Now that’s a top ten story if ever there was one!
As for the Coulterbeast…
Just remember though, according to the only post in the comment section I have ever seen Josh make (that sort of makes it a 2014 tpm event), that this is not a left leaning blog. Its something else which is not to be revealed to us just yet.
That one made me chuckle—and not because it was humorous.
It all depends to which side one dresses. Far to the left of Mr. Hodnobeej but a tad right of UFG.
Of course, if you wear briefs, you dress “up.”
EG wears briefs and dresses down then back up. He’s a self fulfilled ma-yan
On story number 5, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins made that statement verbally to a reporter. It was not a prepared written statement. No written notes, not even Sarah Palin style, with notes on his palm. Ahhhhhhhhhh
So how they hang determines a guys political leanings?
And applauding the fact that while most commenting boards that accompany news article sites (usually right-leaning, but not always) tend to be an absolute cesspool of the dumbest and most despicable opinions in our society, and where straw men and half-truths run rampant in a storm of awful grammar and ALL CAPS, TPM still manages to retain informative and knowledgeable commenters. Kudos to that.
It’s interesting that none of TPM’s year-in-review stories has any comments.
Makes me say, “Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.”
I can just see the heroic Bill Oreilly bragging about all the straw men he clobbered when he was
in a combat zone. He said he was, it must be true ok?
I never read the wedding cake one because I expected it to be so predictable, (which it was) but I went ahead just now and clicked on it. Seems the weeping woman got what she deserved, but I can’t imagine wanting someone to make anything consumable for me if they objected.
First, I wouldn’t want to reward (pay them)
And second, I would really worry about what body fluids might be baked in.
Third…never mind, #2 is enough! I am always nice to servers, no matter how bad they are.
I feel the same way. I understand why the two women brought suit against the bakery…a business is not allowed to discriminate in Oregon.
But I also agree that should they prevail they should then follow up with a nice wedding cake order from the bakery and eat it.
Alas…the owners have shut down their business.
Progress.
So it goes…
Ummmmmmm, I’ll not be the person to conduct a study…
But I firmly believe that right wing nutters wear briefs two sizes smaller than they should. I take that on faith…
so, 2014 was essentially a repeat of 2013.
or two bra sizes too small, take your pick.
I don’t know about the rest of you , but I am very happy to say good-bye and good riddance to 2014. I have high hopes for 2015. To President Obama: Keep those surprises coming! The country needs your new progressiveness (and so does your base!)
To Elizabeth Warren: Keep on shouting truth to power!
To Hillary: You better start sounding prepared. You better not think this thing is yours for the taking. Please be tough and honest and don’t talk even once about how tough you and Bill had it. I know it was emotionally hard sometimes, but it just won’t fly because for the most part you have had an amazing ride.
Although TPM Longform seems to have died, the year started with Neal Ungerleider’s “Inside The Messy Global Race for the Metals That Power Your iPhone”. Despite the hard-to-follow policy on where to use capital letters in a headline, the article was a great intro into the environmental and economic aspects of high-tech metal extraction. Such background analysis may not dance in the main headlines for years yet, but clearly a shift in the technology of our culture will bring different sorts of problems. I like such work as it gives context to the daily discussions of policy and scandal.
