Discussion: There’s Still No Evidence That Trump Opposed The Iraq War Before It Began

Chiselin’ Trump, channeling John Kerry: “I was for invading Iraq, before I was against it.”

Does anybody really believe that Iraq the United States is going to be a wonderful democracy where people are going to run down to the voting box and gently put in their ballot and the winner loser is happily going to step up to lead the country aside? C’mon.

“I spoke to Sean Hannity, which everybody refuses to call Sean Hannity.”

Speak for yourself, Chiselin’ Trump! I don’t refuse to call Sean Hannity. I call Sean Hannity an asshole every time I see him on TV.

While you’'re explaining you’re losing. He might have been against the war in one conversation and in favor of it in another. Who’s to say? He was not “on the record” against it and he was “on the record” being okay with it at least. Unless he says why he was against it and has some evidence, the reasonable assumption is he was for it when that was popular and against it when that was popular.

Fine

I’ll grant him that objector status, congratulations Donald.

Now explain that pillaging position

"You and I would argue, and it was respectful, and I understood where you were coming from, but I was against the war, I thought it would destabilize the Middle East.

I didn’t know it would be managed so badly, in all fairness, neither did you, but I really felt that it’s something that had to be discussed, because I was against the war in Iraq."

I call bullshit on this fabricated alibi. When has either Chiselin’ Trump or Sean Hannity ever had an argument that was respectful?

Don’t care right now

Ask Hannity or Cavuto if Bush or Cheney should have grabbed Iraq’s oil.

“Yeah, I guess so. I wish the first time it was done correctly.”

I had not caught this before, but when you read what Trump said to Howard Stern, he is essentially saying he was for the invasion before he was for the invasion. He is actually saying we should have invaded Iraq in Gulf War I when Saddam was much more powerful. Does anyone honestly think that an invasion of Iraq would have worked out so much better then?

Just so I understand, Sean Hannity is a great patriot who beat the war drums for invading Iraq, and had great judgement at the time. Now he is using his impeccable judgement to lead the charge on Fox News to get Donald Trump elected by helping normalize Trump’s behavior.
Wouldn’t Sean Hannity fall in the group that Trump is referring to in this quote from the primary debates? “They lied,” Trump said, referring to Bush administration officials. “They said there were weapons of mass destruction and there were none. And they knew there were none.”

He just can’t help himself. If he was smart he never would have tried to fabricate anti-war credentials, and would have just said, yeah, I was inclined to support the President, but wasn’t enthusiastic about it – which would match his “yeah, I guess so” comment to Stern.

But he just can’t help trying to pretend he had it right all along, so he’s caught, pants down, tripping all over his lies. If he could control his narcissism, he could have hit Hillary hard on her vote to give Bush the power to invade, but instead he blew his time in a hopeless and self-defeating attempt to re-write history with a word salad rant that blundered it’s way to the ridiculous climax of “but nobody will call Sean Hannity!”

Thank Heavens this guy is so brittle and thin-skinned and narcissistic and inarticulate. Because if he was actually able to control himself and make clear arguments and execute strategy…I hate to even think about it.

I want a t-shirt that says “I call Sean Hannity ‘Sean Hannity’” and I’m proud of it!

“There’s no way to verify that such weighty foreign policy debates went down between two of the Republican Party’s foremost intellectuals.” I got a little laugh out of that one. Thanks, Katherine.

And then there’s this: Trump denies he said not paying taxes was smart an hour after he said it on the debate stage.

Problem is nobody can believe anything coming from this charlatan or anyone backing him up without rock solid evidence. Hard to come by when one is built on sand.

DJT: “But, But, But… I stand on the strongest of legal precedents… My fingers were crossed when I was on the Stern show!! Surely, that makes me look Presidential?”

LOL…do these fucking imbeciles think people are really fooled by this nonsense?

“On Tuesday, Fox News published its own fact check asserting the Cavuto clip does indeed back up Trump’s claims to have opposed the war from the start. The un-bylined post also took umbrage that other fact-checking organizations continually rated the nominee’s claims on the issue false.”

Most tellingly, Faux News deliberately cut the Howard Stern interview quote short and took it out of context in order to misinform people. The FULL quote is

“Yeah, I guess so…I wish the first time it was done correctly.”

The second part provides the context that shows he was in support of invading Iraq, which is why Faux News deliberately deleted it and failed to report it in the article. Go check it yourself. That part isn’t in the article.
