Discussion: The Year In Trump Reckonings: How The GOP Grappled With The Mogul's Unlikely Rise

Discussion for article #244159

That reads somewhat like the 5 stages of grief as put forth by KĂĽbler-Ross and now the GOP is vacillating between depression and acceptance.

EDIT: I just realized it was possible to “like” the author’s posts written here. (I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer.)

I agree with the Obama people that the GOP earned this mess. Too bad we all have to suffer through. Hold out hope that the well over half of the American people would be embarrassed by a Trump Presidency will show up to vote in the GE, if it gets that far.

I remain convinced that there is only one viable solution to the “Trump” problem.

A covert fecal transplant.

I doubt that he would volunteer (thus the need for the transplant to be covert), even though I suspect it would provide enormous relief to him as well as the majority of the rest of the nation.

And even though I’m perhaps (for various unmentionable reasons), not the best candidate, I would be happy to become the donor.

I think that was the point

On a side note, I think the two best events of 2015 here at TPM were Sahil leaving and Tierney arriving.

The most important things in American politics are money, popularity, and media coverage.

Taking those 3 things into consideration, where’s the unlikely rise part?

Hey, I said I wasn’t that bright.

And, I completely agree on the Sahil and Tierney point. Hated him and like her.

Great picture, looks like he’s constipated.

Currently 3 of the 4 top stories on TPM’S mobile site are about Trump. There will be some sad folks at TPM if their boundless source of material doesn’t become the GOP nominee.

The long and the short of it.

A lot of Fourth Estates would have accurately described the “Trump phenomenon”, particularly the butterknife questions by “reporters” (read: stenogrsaphers) with no followup.

FOX (not a real Fourth Estate but far more damaging) did not help the situation at all.

Most Criminally negligible was the actual phenomenon of Trump inciting people to violence with no legal, media or moral accountability for these acts of violence. A country the size of the U.K. may not have been able to have this type of thing happen. A country the size of Virginia and North Carolina may have had pathways of communication rivaling those of the MSM.

A place this big?

Well Granny Gramps, Cleetis and Goober (those paying attention to Politics) rely on the Tube.

Sneed covered this well, that is how they acted. It almost never happens, I feel sympathy for the Republicans, this time over the rise of Mr T. He’s not really a conservative, he’s a demagogue wannabe strong man, but he’s stealing their thunder. The conservative voice is going on with Cruz and Rubio, et al, but Trump is ahead with his absurdism. Amazing.

I don’t know where else to complain about this, so here goes: Why does MSNBC give over its prime time shows to endless live feeds of the trumpster’s rallies? Presumably free of charge…
I am taking the Chris Matthews show off my TIVO for this reason…

It doesn’t matter what a pig the Rump is to the multitude of tea bagging wastes of carbon who are running literally or effectively unopposed.

Yes you are!

I love reading your comments!

Came to TPM this morning as I always do, looked at the main page, and realized I have serious trump fatigue.

What’s the point of a news discussion source if it’s just a rehash of the same ol’ thing over and over. He says or does something stupid and we react. I just picked one article so I could post this comment. Enough is enough. There’s more going on in the world than this jerkoff. Until something actually substantial happens, please stop with the wall-to-wall coverage.

Trump is like a new car accident every day. Sure, I get tired of the blood but I can’t not look.
