But it could be argued that the ad was promoting an independent press serving the public’s need to know, and not just the WP.
Odd way to spend the money as the NFL fans are probably the most Trumpian demographic.
that was the one thing that stood out for me too. and it was a good use of that image.
But it is one important step.
What is wrong with Dems? A paper can’t even run an ad promoting the importance of good journalism, and honoring journalists who have lost their lives in pursuit of it, and all these “pundits” can do is pick it apart. That is pathetic.
Agree, I remember when the Republican supporter Clint Eastwood did the voice-over for a Super Bowl ad several years ago that celebrated the revival of Chrysler. I thought that was a good ad and I commended him for doing it.
Indeed it could. Such an argument would be consistent with my comment.
To which I would add, Stella Artois is the real enemy here, sheeple!
Sure, but without knowing, we would have no chance.
That’s what the ghost of Roger Ailes is counting on.
If it takes a Jeff Bezos to counter that, then fine.
These days “Sad” is a good day…
Kind of amazing Schumer and Pelosi would take the time to make this clip.
And I’m not a tatoo fan and believe to each his/her own, but Adam Levine’s tattoos. wow didn’t do much for me when I’d only seen him in a tee shirt but without, wow. Hey, whatever floats your boat!
Yeah, but when Janet Jackson revealed her bare chest during a Superbowl halftime show, the reaction was rather different. ![]()
Well, there are chests and their are breasts…
I understand the reasoning behind the decision to include FOX in an ad promoting accurate and honest journalism and that in it’s absence, “democracy dies in darkness.” I just don’t agree with the decision.
Fair enough.
I’m good with this. Bezos – like so many very wealthy CEOs – has benefited enormously from taxpayer-funded infrastructure and runs a monopoly platform. Let him pay into protecting society’s foundations.
Also shows that WaPo is a force to be reckoned with.
As long as he takes it out of his own budget.
I pay through Amazon for my WaPo subscription and log in with my Amazon credentials. The integration is pretty tight and benefits Amazon as they can show me targeted ads.
Well the US still isn’t ready to accept Woman’s breasts as being ok for general public exposure and viewing. And I could go either way on it. Partially because it would make them seem like less erotic and mainly because like most men’s bodies, most women’s’ bodies don’t really look that good unclothed! Especially, based on one visit to a nude beach in Italy, the the folks in the general public that are most likely to want to be nude in public are really not the folks you want to see nude!
The WP using a Fox (fake) journalist in their add is a good example of media “bothsider-ism”.
Now, if WP will just get rid of Megan ArgleBargle and a few other conservazombies, maybe they’ll be a halfway honest newspaper.
Nothing wrong about being partisan for freedom of the press, truth and facts in reporting. Fox is the antithesis of truth and freedom, run by a oligarch swine. So is WP, now I think of it. Sad Days Interesting Times: Clash of the Oligarch Swine.
