Watergate sent 40 people to prison. Watching these criminals who consider themselves Masters of the Universe squirm gives me as much pleasure.
The headline seems overstated. There is still that Flynn fellow…
Time for this loyal patriot to be pardoned. But … uh-oh … does Putin actually have pardoning authority?
A minor quibble but that’s not the proper use of the idiom “circle the wagons”. In fact, it somewhat means the opposite.
Trump: But he was only with the campaign for a short time! [Stamps foot.] Only a short time!! [Stamps foot.] This is so unfair. [Starts whining like a toddler.] How was I to know that this guy I plucked out of practically complete obscurity and put him in charge of my campaign had for decades laundered money and done the bidding of the Russians and their friends. Just because it looks like I also did the bidding of Russians and their friends and laundered their money is a complete coincidence. [Throws tantrum.] You’ll all pay for this!! Just you wait!!! YOU’LL SEE!!! YOU’LL SEE!!!
Keep up the squeeze. Can’t wait for the Orange Crush headlines.
HAhahahahahahaha…the alt-right freakout continues unabated…
Is it just me or is that level of desperation just plain old fucking delicious? Wow is Jarrett a joke.
Hey, somebody has to defend the indefensible. Some day, we’ll all look back on this and laugh…hopefully with lots of convictions and long prison sentences.
Wonder if he’s drinking again. Better not try to board another flight.
I’m loving it. I’d like to see odds from a bookmaker on whether:
a) Manafort attempted some sort of plea deal and this is the feds way of saying “fuck you, son”
b) The feds want him to attempt some sort of plea deal, and they’re making clear in advance that he isn’t going to slip much past them if he doesn’t…
The fact Manafort fired his previous attorneys makes it tempting to speculate about (a), but either way it’s fun to watch
We should have a deck of cards for the Trump administration, like in Iraq.
The only question is who is the 2nd Joker (the first being Trump, of course), and who is the Ace of Spades.
Bannon HAS to be the King of Hearts. Jared could be the Jack of Hearts.
Beat me to it! Yes, the phrase is a reference to how a 19th Century wagon convoy under attack would re-configure itself into a circle to better defend itself.
So was manafort surprised by the raid because he had reason to be surprised, or just because he thought it wouldn’t happen to him?
Maddow touched on this briefly last night but Mueller was previously a partner in WilmerHale, the same firm that was defending Manafort until yesterday. That potential conflict is probably why they parted ways.
Mueller and his people have figured out that Manafort is the psychological weak link. He’s the one who’ll roll over and make a trade to keep from going away for the rest of his natural life.
Let’s just hope his health doesn’t take a sudden turn for the worst…
Thing is with him tipping investigators about the trump meeting tells me he’s ready to made some kind of deal and spill the shit on the entire trump clan…why else would the WH be taken over by mcmaster and kelly…
Good internet theater! Thanks!
Other reading could be that Trump consoles himself with delusional schadenfreude – Imagines perhaps that this Manafort guy plays role of Big Enchilada, allowing guilty Trump to wing out of it all unnotced – free as the proverbial jay bird!
A Mueller spokesperson declined comment for this story.
Of course. I just hope that we get the full story when this is all over, assuming we live through the nuclear holocaust that looms…
@old_curmudgeon - Manafort is weak but so is Flynn. I’d count on them flipping Kush, too, because he won’t fare well in prison and I have to believe that Schneiderman is building a solid case against Kush.
