Discussion: The Very Trumpian Ad-Libs In The President's First State Of The Union

I wish to thank the good people of Talking Points Memo for watching Trump’s State of the Union, so I didn’t have to. I trust your reviews and analysis will suffice.

The my fave SOTU “article” thus far comes from Andy Borowitz at the New Yorker:

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Proofreads State of the Union One Last Time to Remove Any Remaining Facts

And should Princess Hamhocks have missed a fact, she will deny and obfuscate at today’s presser.

Can’t wait for the r/w press to tell us this is the “pivot” we have been waiting for.
Also can’t wait for Trump’s tweet storm (maybe the administration will delete the storm because well, we know) praising himself as the best speech ever given, better than anything Churchill ever gave.

Trump has trouble staying on topic because of his severe ADHD.

I watched reruns of “All In The Family”.
A little less bigoted then the speech.

"…who the written address referred to as ‘CJ.’ ‘He goes by DJ,’ Trump said. ‘And CJ. He said call me either one.’”

He has to make up a lie rather than admit to even a simple slip of the tongue.

Didn’t see the speech. I washed my hair. If I’d watched the speech, I would have had to bleach my eyes and ears.

Praising House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), who a gunman wounded at a congressional baseball practice in June 2017, Trump added, “I think they like you, Steve.”

Not as much as me, but they like you.

My wife wondered if Obama applauded himself and much as Donald seemed to. Anybody got a feel for that, I really don’t remember. Once she said that it did seem strange watching Donald do it last night, but it seems like he does that a lot in his political speeches.

Edit: yeah his clapping for himself was unusual

Alas, I couldn’t watch the speech because I had to wash my hair, rearrange my sock drawer, and delete emails.
