Are we going medieval now ?
“The Temptations of Trump”
“The Tribulatiions of Rod Rosenstein”
The real question is: Did Socrates die in vain?
“I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt.”
Trump’s salvo did not name Rosenstein, whom he himself appointed, but the Deputy Attorney General is the only person who fits both actions described in the tweet
What seems to get lost in the conversations I’ve seen about DT’s tweet is that nobody actually fits the description in the tweet. Nobody could tell the president to fire the FBI director - that’s totally up to him. Second, DT told Rosenstein to come up with a pretext to fire Comey, and then DT admitted to the whole world that he did it because he wanted to stop the Russia investigation.
It cannot be pointed out enough that DT will never take responsibility for anything.
How’s all that Making America Great Again going, Deplorables?
I’m guessing most Trump voters have no idea what is going on, and are just lost wondering where their wall is, and when are those coal jobs coming back.
We’re doomed.
“If President Trump were to try to replicate Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre by firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in addition to Mueller, Congress must unite to stop him,” he said. “We cannot allow the President to choose who will conduct this investigation or to interfere with its progress in any way.”
Maybe Schiff hasn’t met or read about any congressional republicans. If they think they can sweep it under the rug, they will. If Brand is in charge, she’ll fire Mueller and republicans will never find a suitable replacement because they’ll be playing 27 degrees of Jim Comey.
Unless, of course, it is something which can be presented to be “winning”… Then he takes “responsibility” (a.k.a., “credit”) for it, even if he deserves none.
They have no idea of what they helped into office. They all seems to focus on how the Pres. talks tough, stands up to foreign leaders, and all the contracts for sales he has promoted. Now you and I know that the last item is bogus, the second item is rude, and the first, well since he changes his tune every 24 hours and as KAC said focus on what he does not on what he says, then his voice is the carnival barker to his base, “Look at me, don’t look at what is going on over there!”
It seems pretty clear that under normal circumstances Rosenstein should recuse himself, since obstruction is part of the investigation and he wrote the memo and categorically stated that he wrote the memo to the Senate. However, who would push him on it? I don’t entirely trust him, but I trust him more than the Trump appointee who would be next up in running the investigation.
If there’s a defining characteristic of Republicans, this is it.
Nixon found Bork. Not a problem.
"It’s a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham."
And while this may seem OT, as all this unfolds, undocumented seasonal migrant farm workers who normally harvest the food we eat have figured out that is not worth the risk to come here because of deportation yet they are sorely needed.
The sad and pitiful messes we create for ourselves due to our racist and base fears of “others” is tragic.
Worthwhile read in today’s NYTimes about immigration clashes in Ohio regarding migrant food harvesting.
I read an article on that very subject last night and you are spot on:
Warning: The hypocrisy will make you vomit, the ignorance will make you shudder.
Anybody who fires Mueller is going to have ‘criminal conspirator’ written next to their name for the rest of their life.
FIFY
“Anybody who fires Mueller is going to have ‘partisan hack’ written next to their name for the rest of their life.
They’re well aware of Robert Bork’s fate, costing him a Supreme Court seat 15 years after he agreed to fire the special prosecutor investigating President Nixon.
Donnie’s top secret plan is to build the wall out of coal. A win-win for Murika…
And then another bonus: “Who could have known” a wall made out of coal could be lit on fire.
Nobody in their right mind would fire Rosenstein at Trump’s behest, other than one of his insane loyalists, of which there are none at the DOJ. I’m sure that there are a few folks there who are corrupt enough that they would do it for the right price, but to do so would be a criminal act (willful obstruction of justice) and it’s not a safe gamble to assume that Trump could/would protect them in any way once they did his bidding.
