Discussion: The Surge Is Real: Second National Poll Puts Trump Atop The GOP Field

Susan Page made this argument the other day on Hardball and I laughed at the ridiculousness of it because it assumes Trump wouldn’t pick up voters from Carson, Cruz,or Paul, candidate’s whose voters aren’t going to be in a hurry to vote for Jeb! or some other establishment figure. If you look at the poll and separate each camp into Crazies vs. Establishment, there’s a higher percentage of support for the crazy caucus.

I’m not suggesting Trump is going to win. It just doesn’t make any sense that Jeb!, Walker, and others would pick up support from like-minded voters when their preferred candidate drops out, but Trump somehow magically wouldn’t. I can see many more Cruz, Paul, and Carson voters going to Trump than I can imagine Walker voters settling for Jeb! And if things get ugly enough in Florida, Rubio voters may be far less inclined to back Jeb!

This is similar to what went down in 2012, with the rodeo clown car of that cycle. Trump is up because he’s saying horrible shit that resonates with Republicans, and so he’s in the spotlight when a lot of people aren’t paying any attention and likely couldn’t even name 3/4 of the GOP field. By 2016 I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a dozen lead changes before the derp finally settles on Jeb (Jeb!).

RETRO…remember the good old days of the 'The Soccer Mom; RAGE Word association, when I hear the name Donald Trump, the first name that comes to mind is Sarah Palin. Desperate times call for desperate measures, which is measured by the large number of Republican candidates…
What a HUGE mass of DESPERATION.

What percentage of the Republican primary voters are not racist?

Less seriously, what percent can recognize an asshole when they see one?

and since when has someone being a joke stopped Republicans from voting for him?
