Discussion for article #233124
And the weirdest thing about it is that the Establishment GOP like Jeb doesn’t care one way or another. They are too afraid of the monster they created or just plain too busy trying to consolidate more wealth among the Top 1% to wade into the issue. If these frivolous lawsuits make them look stupid, well, they are the Stupid Party. They embrace the label for better or worse.
and we cannot forget the Koch connection to the Birchers.
I don’t think this thesis is correct. I think what it shows is that the New Tycoons have taken over the GOP. The kind of people who want to Win. Now. And don’t care how they do it, because it’s someone else’s job to deal with the fallout. Sure, some of them are wingnuts in their own right, but mostly they have no shame and no scruples. If they think an issue will get them power and/or money, they’re on it. Which in some ways is even worse than the true believers.
Please, Ms. Marcotte and other journalists on this site and elsewhere, do not use the term “wingnuts”. It disparages and ridicules a perfectly good hardware accessory.
I prefer the term “fucknuts”. Kinda rolls right off the tongue, don’t it?
It might be instructive for one the demonstrators who believe “72% don’t want Obamacare” to actually listen to families and individuals who have benefited from having at the very least prenatal care, vaccinations!!!, annual wellness checkups etc. instead of the little voices inside their nut-filled heads. I suspect there are some in that crowd who might also be yelling “Get government out of my Medicare.”
I just hope the commies don’t have one of them doomsday machines in case some teabagger acts on their fear of fluoridation.
There is only one remedy for a supreme court that abuses it’s power to erase precedent, and become a partisan super legislature. Impeachment.
The Democrats need to make clear, that no matter how long it takes, if the supreme court crosses this line, that it will be the short, medium and long term goal of every Democratic Congressmen. A war on the supreme court that unilaterally “repeals” the ACA.
The Republicans mantra has been “repeal and replace”
If the ACA falls to judicial fiat, the Democrats should work as hard and as long as and as single mindedly on “impeach and replace”
You’d think that in a nation of 320 million people, there would be enough rational people that these nuts would be ignored, leaving them with little, if any, influence over government policy at any level.
Sadly, that’s not the case, and it appears that things are going to have to get a lot worse before we all collectively decide that we’ve had enough of it and that it’s time to go back to civilization.
In the meantime, a lot of people are going to get hurt, and it isn’t going to be pretty.
Of course, the Tycoons join forces with the wingnuts which empowers them, then the wingnuts do the dirty work, which in turn empowers the Tycoons. Neither can complete their mission without the other.
The rich need the foolish and the foolish are just that and the two are the odd couple that somehow works well together.
Each sect of the conglomerate of wingnuts compiles to form the whole body. The 1%, the religious fanatics, the racists, the freedom dopes and the liberal haters.
Wingnut is merely the collective.
The Wingnut Manufacturer’s Association of America thanks you.
This article boils down what we all already know but likely don’t care enough to take the time to condense into a thesis or summation.
This is fact and the observances have been made. The inklings and actual visuals that have caused us to correctly label the once sane Republicans as wackos, loons and wingnuts just out of disgust, are now proven fact. Of course this factual stuff is anathema to the wingnut so we can only expect massive hysterical wingnuttery to ensue over the public outing.
Wingnuts will be wingnuts will be loons and so on. This is what they are and they are doing what they do.
This is going to end violently. They’re dedicated to their heinous, demonic cause, and I’m dedicated to wrecking them.
Somebody is going down.
SCrOTUS lost any remaining shred of legitimacy when it accepted this deliberately frivolous case. They’re a joke, but the punch line is not funny. Not at all.
If the Fascist Five follow through with this evil charade and skullfuck millions of Americans, I hope they receive the frontier justice they deserve.
“To believe that climate change is not a real problem is necessarily to be a conspiracy theorist, because how else can you explain rejecting global scientific consensus without believing that it’s being arranged by a secret cabal trying to impose a hoax on the world?”
I know that what we call “conspiracy theories” are nutty by definition. But this one has always struck me as incredible even by that standard. Conspiracy theories are supposed to provide some sort of motivation for the conspirators. But what is the supposed motive here? The joy of pulling a gigantic hoax over the population? Scientists being able to get funding to do intentionally faulty research? It’s simply incredible that this is entertained by an entire political party. You almost would have to view it as some kind of …conspiracy.
Jeb Bush wants you to think that he doesn’t care about the wingnuts.
The establishment wing of the GOP really hates the Tea Party. They are just afraid of speaking up and being labeled a RINO in the primaries.
I have been thinking for years that cameras on SCOTUS would have a very beneficial effect.
Quite simple actually:
- Create global conspiracy among tens of thousands of crooked scientists where nobody cracks, or spills anything.
- ???
- PROFIT!!!
The Mother Jones article on the plaintiffs, referenced in this story, should be read.
Mencimer caught up with two of the four plaintiffs and read the online postings of the other two who refused to talk to her.
Two plaintiffs will turn 65 this year and be eligible for gub’mint-run Medicare – one in June, when the SS is expected to rule.
Two have reported incomes that are so low that they would not be forced to pay a penalty or buy insurance that amounts to more than eight percent of their income.
One, a military veteran, is eligible for healthcare because of his service but has not applied for it.
One plaintiff said she has no idea how she got included in the lawsuit, didn’t realize millions could lose coverage as a result, said she did not intend to cost people their coverage, and had assumed the “government” would step in if subsidies were wiped out – even though the Republicans have no Plan B in the event of an adverse SS ruling.
The other two, who would not be interviewed, post all kinds of hateful and misleading anti-Obama tripe on social media. One of them filed for bankruptcy a few years ago because of mounting medical debts.
It’s a real clusterfuck of the ignorant and malicious being exploited by the cynical and devious.
Couldn’t agree more. The fact the SCOTUS continues to resist this is very revealing.
