Discussion for article #230971
Yay political theater. zzzzzzzzzzz
TL;DR - Congress wasted another day masturbating into their ideological socks.
Just scrap the whole convoluted Obamacare and give the American people “Single Payer Healthcare”. We deserve it. Are we not as good and deserving as the European Countries that have single payer?
Holiday unicorn sale is that way ------------------->
As usual, Elijah Cummings got it right. If there was any justice though, Gruber would be fired from MIT and given a job clapping blackboard erasers in a community college. No man should be able to endanger so much and cause so much work to fix the harm he caused and not suffer some real monetary and emotional pain.
By the way, great pic! Makes him look like the dweeb he is.
Mouthing off about stuff he had no business talking about is indeed stupid, but people say stupid stuff all the time. He deserves to be mocked publicly, but I don’t think he should lose his job over it. IMHO, the real problem is the media who elevated him to a level of influence he didn’t actually have and the republicans who, as usual, just saw his comments as a way to score political points. He was hired to provide numbers. Any comments he made that did not involve numbers shoudn’t have been taken seriously.
Yew think yer smarter than us, perfesser? Yew think yer better’n us, PERFESSER?
For once I’d like to see someone in front of one of these Issa committees with a keen sense of humor who is able to turn this crap into the joke that it is. When asked how much he collected from taxpayers he called stupid, how about saying something like: “Not anywhere near as much as you guys collected from the Koch Bros.” I’m sure that a decent comedy writer could come up with a boatload of funny responses. After such barbs the witness can simply say: “Oh but I kid you congressman” alla Bill Maher…
The obvious question is “What is the point?” Other than political theater, what do they expect to get out of this? It seems like they’re trying to deflect on the success of Obamacare.
It’s hard to imagine a stupider comment that this.
Gruber didn’t endanger anything, and he didn’t harm anything. And he is still one of the best health economist in the world.
European countries have a variety of systems, with pretty much the only similarity shared between them all being that they use the same three-legged-stool as Obamacare.
What is tragic is the condescension of little treyboy looking like a fool for the tea bag cause… There is nothing blockbuster …just failure to do any more than ;look like idiots…Thought issa the arson had done such a good job of failure that the new prodigal treyboy would be better but he is just the same …Asinine ugly with a different voice!
That vapid little fuck Jim Jordan gleefully stroking his tiny cock over the thought of the shitbag, corrupt SCrOTUS yanking subsidies from needy Americans based on a deliberate misinterpretation of ambiguous statutory language causes violent impulses to swell inside of me.
I’d love to go to war against these fucking cretins, and I’m talking about the real kind.
I’m not sure which is more disappointing. Dylan Scott’s aphorism of blockbuster or Gruber’s inaqility to think on his feet. If he had, he would have responded, “Mr. Chairman, which is more ignorant, my affirmation that I am ignorant as to what comprises a tax or your ignorance for using those statements as a basis for it being so”.
Switzerland’s is quite similar to the ACA, except a basic plan is non-profit and (I think) prescription prices are in line with other European countries - half or a quarter or less than in the US. At the other end of the stick, UK National Health, although there have been some capitalistic inroads. Everyone else is somewhere in between. People confuse “single payer” with how the systems actually work.
I’m sure that the newly minted Republican Congressional majority will get right on your request.
Oh cool, right-wing media gets a meaningless sound bite on the taxpayer’s dime. Now grandpa is all in manufactured rage. In other news, important things are happening.
And if you see Dick Cheney there, call the aurors at the Ministry of Magic.
The beneficiaries of Obamacare don’t care about Gruber, or any GOP scold. They are generally pleased to have health care.
