So what connections did he have that people kept hiring him for apparently high-level positions? Makes GWB’s record look competent.

““Joseph has the habit of disappearing,” said Abdelhamid ElZoheiry, one
of Mifsud’s successors at the Euro-Mediterranean University in Slovenia,
where the latter had a troubled tenure as president during a between
2008 and 2012.”

Perhaps Jamal Kashoggi knows where he is. You know, maybe he got into a “fistfight” or something.

Some academics take a sabbatical, some go underground if they’ve spilled the beans on an international scandal - I’m sure he’s taking this opportunity to write up a paper on Imagism in non-structural proto-NKVD.

The funniest thing in the article is the photograph at the top. It was taken in Washington four years ago at a meeting of the Permanent Council of the OAS. Mifsud was invited to give a talk about “Diplomacy and Development in a Complex Global Environment.”

But there is no record of (this) Mifsud ever being an “Ambassador”! — from any country or organization to any other country or organization. It’s just the title he gave the organizers of the meeting, and, being courteous, they used it (although they also referred to him as the “Director” of his “London Academy of Diplomacy,” which he was).

As for his presentation at the meeting, it was mostly banal, but he did say this about “social media”:

The expansion in the number and variety of international actors empowered by the ICT and social media. These actors now extend beyond traditional NGOs to more amorphous civil society groups.

and:

Foreign Ministries and individual diplomats will need to make full use of the new social media both to influence key debates and to network with key audiences disclosure of information or dissident opinions.

Perhaps interesting in light of his connection to the 2016 election.

Wow, and I thought my university was bad for hiring somebody who had already been fired for financial mismanagement.

Now we know where tRump got the idea for his own university.
