Discussion: The Key Details In Killing Of 2 NYPD Officers

Discussion for article #231443

This is the guy that the NRA wants armed and able to wander around with a gun anywhere at any time. Just because the plan fails so badly and ends up with scenarios just like this, it doesn’t mean that guns everywhere is a bad idea, does it?
I wonder if the NRA head honchos realize that they are making themselves targets as well?

What expecially catches my attention…

  • it wasn’t an ambush, as the article claims, but a political revenge killing assassination style by an apparently semi crazy guy gone unhinged
  • all the personal details of the day of the shooting are about the police, with nothing about the wounded girl friend, although her shooting changes the dynamic of this whole event considerably
  • without the unjustified, repeated police killing of Blacks (and others), people on the mental edge who come completely loose wouldn’t be aiming at the police but at other civilians, as they too commonly do (what goes around, comes around, even if not justified - heinous - in the specific circumstances).

Here’s little good news in all this tragedy. The son of Officer Rafael Ramos, Justin, is 17 and a sophomore at Bowdoin College in Brunswick Maine, and the school will be paying for his education until he graduates

Bowdoin is a very good and reasonably hip college.

please ,please ,please mention that the first shooting victim was a woman, Brimsley’s ex girlfriend, (next to impossible to find her referred to as anything other than that). I am glad that she is surviving being shot in the stomach, but i am incensed at how she is not even deserving of mention when people ask for consideration and compassion.

He was accused of firing a stolen gun into a car in an apartment complex parking lot in the Atlanta area in 2011 after a female acquaintance refused to let him inside.

NYC PBA President: De Blasio built that.

My better half who can’t get enough of Civil War history made it a point to visit Bowdoin College on a trip to Maine because its president was once Joshua Chamberlain who received a Medal of Honor at Gettysburg.

Bowdoin has done a very kind and generous thing for this boy, and his family will be grateful. They deserve no less.

It’s awful when decent men lose their lives from the irrational logic of a mentally ill, armed man.

It’s awful when decent men lose their lives from the irrational logic of racist law enforcement officers.
