Discussion for article #235134

Check Jebā€™s papers. We need to know whether he is here legally.

Donā€™t forget Johnny Otis. Born ā€œwhiteā€ but identified as ā€œblackā€ in his youth, and went on to contribute greatly to American culture.

Yes, but considering in this instance, itā€™s is a politician, Iā€™m a bit more cynical.

Or whoever filled out the card checked the wrong box.

One thing is clear to me - he did not make a mistake. He checked Hispanic on purpose for some inexplicable reason to which he has not yet owned up.

His wife made him do itā€¦

Come on people. It was a mistake! A careless little mistake, like the 3 I just made on my tax forms! Just because we hate the man, doesnā€™t mean every little ā€œoopsieā€ he makes is cause for premature impeachment.

What exactly are you accusing him of trying to do? Pass as hispanic? For what? Affirmative action? Do you think his plan was to check that box and make himself more appealing to Hispanics on the campaign trail? > ā€œHey Senors, Iā€™m one of you! Just look at this box!ā€.

This is not news. This is ridiculous. Tea party ridiculous. And there are all kinds of real reasons to condemn this politician, so letā€™s move on to those.

But heā€™s just so ā€¦ brownā€¦

He looks like a doughnut version of his dad, and his dad was already so wimpy.

My fears of a 3rd Bush have now gone completely away. Phew!

This is an insane overanalysis. Unless it was genuinely a mistake (unlikely, since Hispanic is a box checked in addition to any other racial groups), and no one actually looks at racial identification on voter registration (and it would be obviously ridiculed if it did show up, as it was), the only reason I can see is to increase the number of people identified as Hispanic who voted for Republicans. It would be interesting to check how many people with Anglo last names and identifying themselves as Hispanic voted Republican vs. Democrat.

Does anyone recall his dad rhapsodizing about pork rinds and blackened fish?

Itā€™s embarrassing, a WASP patronizing rednecks.

So Grandpa Prescott Bush was a Nazi, Jeb is Brown, and Rick DeBlasio is Black. Nope, methinks Jebby was looking for some affirmative action for the Hitler Banker Family.

Clinton was the first ā€œblackā€ president. Jeb would be the first ā€œhispanicā€ president.

Jeb is a pandering piece of shit who badly wants to be the next Bush president.

Thatā€™s what this is all about in a nutshell.

Period. End of story.

I had a past life experience, as a Chinese warrior. Thatā€™s how I explain my life long interest in eastern culture. So I cannot judge how Jeb identifies himself ā€“

I agree. Let us not get distracted. This is s-o-o-o-o-o minor compared to the evil this man has conceived.
Let it go.

And ā€˜pappyā€™ Bush thought him how to eat tamales-------------corn husks and all!!

Fifty percent of the nationally and culturally mixed marriage is Mexican National Hispanic. It can be whatever they like to call it. Odds are Columba is considered Anglo by people who see her last name.

Cultural mixing is good for broadening peoplesā€™ understanding. I see little else that will end racism in the world.

That said, JEB will cheerfully lead America right back into chaos at his first opportunity.

This article implies that one cannot be Hispanic AND white. Thatā€™s like saying thereā€™s a difference between Jewish and white. Hispanic has to do with a language; just as Jewish has to do with religion. Neither makes one a different freakinā€™ COLOR! The difference is between Hispanic and Anglo; not Hispanic and whiteā€¦
