Well at least some of the corporations with an NRA affiliation are listening. When I first saw this image none of the companies were struck out… now its most of them. I complained to Hertz and FedEx, Hertz obviously got enough other complaints to take action.
“Ajit Pai, as you probably already know, saved the Internet,” American Conservative Union (ACU) Executive Director Dan Schneider told the audience.
I always take particular delight when the self-proclaimed “moral majority”, ardent believers in the ultimate holiness and power of the free market, find out they are in fact not a majority but a bunch of fringe nuts.
Really?
Commonsense just might have been saved finally.
I thought it was gone forever.
To bad it takes incidents like we see to hopefully make the changes necessary to stop open season hunting on humans with Military hardware.
It’s like a 4 way stop sign intersection that needs a real red light and it takes 10 accidents and 7 deaths to finally think, Maybe we need a light there.
Go figure.
I have a feeling that, as the support for the NRA wanes, they’ll find they have no real friends. The NRA has maintained their status over the last couple of decades entirely through bullying politicians and businesses. Like any bully, as soon as they show any sign of weakness, those who supported them entirely out of fear will turn on them and exact their revenge. Nobody likes a bully and nobody likes to be bullied.
It’s quite possible that over the next couple of years (or maybe sooner if we’re lucky) all support for the NRA, even among Republicans, will collapse completely. They might be as popular as scientology by 2020. We can only hope.
Whoa, corporate America, slow down!
Maybe Florida was the last mass murder of people.
The swiftness of the corporate reaction against the NRA has differed from that of past shootings
And it’s nothing most of us can take any credit for.
It’s the kids. They’re doing this.
NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said this week at the Conservative Political Action Conference that those advocating for stricter gun control are exploiting the Florida shooting.
Similarly, those advocating environmental protection are exploiting polluters.
And those advocating stricter campaign-finance laws are exploiting the NRA’s use of Russian money.
Agree. But consider NRA to be more psychopaths than bullies. Look for a fierce reaction from orange and yellow politicians who owe them big favors and have no other base to support their reelection agendas.
Bingo. They’re very adept at today’s social media. Faster than a … speeding bullet, maybe?
Say, 60/40 psycho/bully?
Would appreciate a comprehensive list of companies which have taken this action. Will carefully monitor where my hard-earned dollars are going. Perhaps Josh and the gang can start a front page right margin roster of NRA-free companies.
99 & 44/100 pure psychopaths. They live on death.
Kudos to the Parkland kids who are getting involved in trying to change the status quo. It reminds me of my youth in France and our activism. This is very European, much of the activism starts with high school students. They are the future and they should be involved in shaping it. I was just listening to David Hogg and what a wonderful young man. He is maligned by the right wing because he’s intelligent and well informed. They are taking their grief to the streets. How shameful that US politicians want more guns in schools just to promote more gun sales. It truly is an embarrassment. I am rooting for them and will join the local demonstration in March.
If I was a super-villain and was going to form an evil company to take over the world, I would call it Blackrock.
Apparently they missed MetLife, per their tweet:
We value all our customers but have decided to end our discount program with the NRA.
— MetLife (@MetLife) February 23, 2018
The NRA ceased representing the views of their ‘rank-and-file’ gun-owning members years ago.
Instead, the policies and political stances of the NRA leadership serve to advocate the wants and needs of the gun manufacturing and retail industries.
Psycho killer, qu’est-ce que c’est?
Yeah, they’ll always have the support of fringe groups, but that will be it. Within a decade (or maybe much sooner) the NRA will no longer have the political power to swing a major election. By 2024, being endorsed by the NRA will be about as desirable as being endorsed by the KKK to most politicians.
