Discussion: The GOP Is Gearing Up To Block ANY Clinton Nominee To The Supreme Court

Craven and corrupt. We’re in comic book villain territory here.

I guess tradition means nothing to todays “Conservatives”.

You’re referring, of course, to quaint traditions like, say, respecting the Constitution?

Communism is winning.

There’s the Party, first and foremost. Below that is the quaint piece of parchment known as the Constitution.

Unless it has to do with a 1950s version of “marriage,” wife beating, child-rearing and blacks knowing their place.

My opinion, but control of the Supreme Court is what this election is all about. The GOP is shitting their pants because they were that fucking close to ruling for another generation.

Yep. Even if I weren’t a big supporter of Hillary’s policies anyway, I’d still wholeheartedly vote for her because I want a sane SCOTUS. Who knows what the fuck we’d get with anything ‘Republican.’ Hell, look at James Comey – a partisan hack in sheep’s clothing.

Legal scholars like Geyh, however, said even that had its drawbacks and could fundamentally change the long-term makeup of the court.
“They can change the rules and roll them but that creates a short-term solution and a tremendous long-term problem,” Geyh said.

As opposed to the current tremendous long-term problem?

I can hardly stand to think about 2018 right now, but just once, just once we have to turn out for the midterms.

I think that all top Democrats need to hammer the hell out of James Comey and all Republicans. Demand Comey come forward with pertinent details in their investigation of the Russian hacks and Donald Trump’s ties to the Russians, as well as Corey Lewandowski and Roger Stone. They opened the gates – let it all out now.

I sincerely hope the events of the last week (and last summer’s Comey congressional testimony) light a fire under any and all concerned citizens to get the hell out there and make their voices heard. SCOTUS has such profound and long-lasting effects on our everyday world. The vast majority of elected Republicans have shown they care not one whit about the country – they care only about staying in power and forcing their own conservative agenda on all of us, as well as lining their own pockets. Donald J. Trump is literally the Ultimate Republican. Very dangerous to the nation, to our safety, to our personal liberties.

Guessing this will end up a fast-tracked case-- to the SCOTUS.

“I don’t think there is precedent for it. It really does reveal just how
politically charged and polarized our judicial politics have become,”
said Charles Gardner Geyh …

Please stop using polarized or polarizing. The problem is not that the two sides are on opposite poles, but that the GOP is obstructionist. Bush got his nominees, No Child, tax cuts, Iraq War. Obama got nothing,

Surely.
But this is yet another of the poorly-disguised, scorched-Earth, foot-dragging processes-- deigned to slow the degradation of White Privilege-- and the sooner-than expected–demographic wave – set to hand over the political keys to the country.

ÂŽs had hoped to hold the SCOTUS long enough to use the next US Census-- to squeeze one more decade out of the 2000 gerrymandered-House-District strategy. The linchpin of their hold.

When the SCOTUS goes? So will the Gordian Gerrymander Knot.

Here, here! Come on, TPM, report it as it really is, please.

ETA: My bad, my apologies. TPM only reported a quote, not characterize anything as “polarizing,” etc. Sorry.

There is no other word.

And, it requires prosecution.

At the very least, Republicans show all signs of hating this country, what it stands for and how our Founding Fathers set it up to operate and grow.

This is war.

It requires more than that.

OT- but worth a quick read, if only for the humor of Trump’s lameness. The WaPo’s David Fahrenthold continues his research into Trump charities. Long article, but the first few paragraphs had me laughing.
