Discussion: The GOP Benghazi Smoking Gun: Clinton Emailed Blumenthal More Than Stevens

After reading some of the transcripts of these hearings, I have come to the conclusion that this charade has nothing to do with Benghazi. The GOP members of the committee do not give two shits about the deaths of an Obama appointee and his subordinates. Nor are the hearings about Hillary Clinton. The Benghazi hearings are Whitewater/Lewinsky redux. They weren’t successful in removing Bill from office, which still rankles, so they are attempting to make sure that he gets nowhere near the White House again. Hillary is just collateral damage.

I too sensed an subtle anti semitism, a la Saul Alinsky vis a vis Obama.

Republican members of the committee: “Hmmmmm…Bloom-en-thawl’ ___ Sounds mighty Juuuuuu-ish’ to me. We don’t like them Juuuuuuz’ who ain’t in Iz-reel’ waitin’ on their judgement.”

It was a long day of GOP weeping, wailing and gnashing of tooth by the Cons and Baggerscum, but in the end it was a joy to see them go from grasping at straws to clutching their pearls ____ spewing, red faced, sweating, blathering word salads and accomplishing nothing other than handing Secretary Clinton a platform on which she look calm, cool, often bemused and ultimately triumphant.

Even Elijah Cummings had a better hair day than Trey Gowdy.

It’s taken the DC panels three years to establish that Hillary Clinton didn’t attack Benghazi. Blumenthal is an obvious Red Herring. But if you are paranoid, you are paranoid about everything.

I cribbed the following from a friend’s post elsewhere:

The 11 Hour torture of former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, was the worst display of Congressional abuse of it investigative powers in the entire annals of Democracy.

Certainly it will go down in history as the most vicious since the mean spirited, senseless McCarthy era, when petty, unscrupulous legislatures used their office to publicly humiliate and torture others for their own aggrandizement.

The new, meaner, Conservative-driven Republican Party had it worst performance to date.

Disgusting! In poor taste and a fraudulent waste of tax payers funds. Trey Gowdy, the undisciplined, snarling, insidious chairmen should be should be censured by Congress and expelled for his vicious, unmanly assault on Madam Secretary Clinton for what was obviously purely political, bipartisan reasons.

Shame, shame on Congress for this national travesty.

No one in America should sanction these savage abuses of privilege or let them go by unnoticed.

Send your personal condemnations to Senator Trey Gowdy. He is a sick, sadistic villain with little respect for those who serve their country. A bitter, angry, ugly, hateful, petty man.

America’s lack of statesmanship is appalling. It is directly traceable to the vindictiveness of this new national disease, this new . . . the birth of this dim witted, low functioning den of iniquity, the Neo-Conservative, Anti-Government, Republican party of malcontents. This uprising of the lowest functioning members of our society has got to be put down immediately.

It was a glaring indication of how badly the hearings were going for the Republican Con and Bagger stooges.

BTW: It’s a damned shame someone in the media didn’t point out the fact that the reason Benghazi and many other consulates and embassies around the globe didn’t have upgrades in security was because the fu*king Congress refused to pay for it.

The fact that you have to explain why the Republcans are literally obsessed with “Sidney Blumenthal” to people who read a website like TPM demonstrates the futility of the whole business.

The focus on Blumenthal clearly shows that the hearing is a political operation and not an attempt to get at the truth about why four Americans were killed in Benghazi. It would be in the interest of the Republicans to wrap up this fiasco as quickly as possible. They came off as a bunch of ants trying to eat an elephant.

I just love the term “Benghazi Republican” and I hope it sticks for a very long time.

I think this does’t get enough play. It’s a dog whistle of the lowest kind. The anti-semitism that bubbles just barely below the surface of the modern GOP is not unexpected, given their almost public embrace of other forms of bigotry and hatred.

In my opinion, the treatment of HRC is tied in lowness by the treatment of Cecile Richards during the Planned Parenthood hearings. On the upside, it reinforces the image of the GOP “man” mistreating a woman.

those are not mutually exclusive groups.

Maybe the rep from AL who wanted to know if HRC was alone “all night” was hoping for a late night visit from Sid to be her gotcha moment.

Exactly their deviant thinking. Bill had Lewinski, so Hillary must be compromising herself with Blumenthal… plus… OMG… just think how close he was to THE SERVER if he was at Hillary’s house.
