Discussion for article #242084
It really makes little sense. If he had said or did something damaging to Clinton, this would have come out in today’s hearing. It did not.
Even the stretch by which they intimate he had more dealings with Clinton than Mr. Stevens, it still makes little sense. In fact, Gowdy’s delay, until the next business meeting of the committee to decide on releasing his testimony, is a poorly constructed dodge NOT to do so. How do I know this? He said a vote is required. Wanna bet the Republican majority says no and therefore the testimony will not be released?
Apparently, they are trying to indict by association the Clinton Foundation, tying it to Blumenthal and his request for business dealing help in Libya, quite a departure from the role of the committee, eh?
Show me a smart US businessman dealing with a foreign country who doesn’t seek out State Department help and I’ll sell you the Brooklyn Bridge!
He was one of the few witnesses called by the Republicans in the Clinton impeachment trial.
it’s because of his decades long relationship with the clintons… conveniently including the lewinsky years that the gop doesn’t want to bring up directly, but are able to do by reminding everyone about blumenthal…
Wow! It’s a very good thing that I don’t give my friends my phone number, e-mail or home address. I’m so smart that way, but very…um…lonely.
“Why Were The Benghazi Republicans Obsessed With Sidney Blumentahl?”
Because he holds an MCSE in cloud-based solutions?
Because he once crank called Ken Starr as an undergraduate?
Because he hid Vince Foster’s body in the trunk of his Buick until the heat was off?
Blumenthal is a brash partisan who has said some pretty nasty things about Republicans. I like that about him. Maybe they are trying to make him into a boogeyman that they will use to fund raise and scaremonger for the rest of the cycle. They always have to have an enemy. Some devil incarnate that they can point to and show to their rube. “Come look at this east coast liberal, this modern day Rasputin who will be pulling Hillary’s strings when she is president.”
They. Don’t. Have. Anything. Else.
And it’s pretty thin stuff. I’m sure as many as no people are sitting around the dinner table tonight saying “There was this guy, see, like some big friend of hers or something and he e-mailed her a bunch of times, and he was on her Christmas card list and the ambassador wasn’t INPEACH.” It’s just embarrassing.
He’s Jewish and not Nuttenyahoo
Because clearly, he’s Rasputin to Hillary’s Tsarina Alexandra, using his secret access to the levers of power to destroy America in service of his own debauchery. WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!!
This hearing answers the fascinating question “What do you get when you Super-size a Nothingburger?”
My favorite part so far, is the new Mean Girls President, Trey Gowdy actually talking about a Blumenthal e mail in which he trashed other Dems on Obama’s staff. What exactly does that email have to do with Benghazi…not a single thing? So why bring it up? To embarrass her. Mean Girls President Gowdy thoroughly demonstrated how UNSERIOUS this investigation actually has been.
Maybe they think that this will score some points with the substantial part of their base that is antisemitic.
That part to be distinguished, of course, from the part of their base that believes Israel is our most important ally.
[***Why Were The Benghazi Republicans Obsessed With Sidney Blumenthal?***]
Republican response (*~whispered!~): “Acause’ that thar’ name sounds awful Juuuuuuuuuuish’!”
So, just curious here, how many individual ambassadors (out of the, what 100+ serving at any time) does a Sec. of State usually email?
I mean, complaining about something that I would expect to rarely occur not occurring seems really screwy. Or is that just me?
I am just waiting for them to try and make this about Soros somehow.
(weak smile)
Damn it!
What about my debauchery?
Why are these elites always looking out for themselves and their debauchery and not us little people and our debauchery?
I know, I want to look through the video and/or transcripts of todays hearing when I can, because I think I saw in one of Gowdy’s little hissy-fits today him bringing up Blumenthal’s emails about Benghazi, and then a few moments later saying that Blumenthal’s emails have nothing to do with Benghazi.
It was a real head-scratcher.
Made me chuckle.
Years back (and for many years) when a group of buds and I would party at Mardi Gras in Nawlins–
we had a cheer when someone achieved some height of debauchery–
where we as a group-- in our best Winston Churchill– would bellow:
“(Insert name) has 'bauched with the best of them-- and he was not found to be lacking!”
