Discussion for article #237002
Scott Walker is doing the exact same thing as our Governor here in Maine - Paul Lepage.
These Tea Bagger Governors are taking their orders from their state’s Heritage Policy groups which are funded by and directed by Charles and David Koch and the John Birch Society.
All these states under attach from the Koch’s will accomplish one thing - fiscal crisis and broken government!
If people on government assistance are to be tested for drugs - then why aren’t we testing all of our elected officials including Gov. Walker and Gov. Lepage? These elected officials are on government assistance and they also get very lucrative retirement plans once they are booted from office. Why isn’t that considered “welfare”?
Retrograde civilization in action. Soon there will be gravel roads in some of these states since road maintenance requires tax revenue.
Re education policy - don’t overlook the relaxing of teacher credentialing. His plan would permit school districts to license teachers not only without a college degree, but for conscience or math folks without even a GED could be “teachers”. How the mighty have fallen! And I’m a product of the great Wisconsin public education tradition, spending my first seven years in of the the last remaining one-room country schools. But, hey, there were still strict standards and supervision. It just makes me sick.
Make sure he eats what he cooks.
If your ignorant and don’t care about the environment Wisconsin is the place for you…
I wonder how many people with plans to move to,or open a business in Wisconsin changed
their minds because Walker is wrecking the economy, environment, and educational system.
I’ve always thought of WI as a fairly progressive purplish state. How did they end up electing this wingnut several times over? Is the Democratic party there just hapless? Or is WI really just KS in CT’s clothing?
Walker is very good at riling up those in the rural regions and getting turnout from the deep red Milwaukee suburbs (the people who keep sending Paul Ryan back to Congress, since he loses Janesville). Madison almost always has decently high turnout, but Milwaukee and the smaller population centers generally don’t turn out well in off-year elections, so we end up slightly red in off-years and solidly blue in presidential years. I’ll give you one guess when our gubernatorial elections are.
A prick trying to further secure his bona fides in being a prick.
Because they are working and their work is compensated by a salary. Welfare is getting something for doing nothing.
Walker is hurting Wisconsin, the republicans are hurting Wisconsin, and these corrupt folks want to do this to the rest of the USofA…folks wake up, the ONE percenters are winning…
Well, since the governor doesn’t have a college degree, I’m guess he’s thinking it’s not necessary to educate others. He is so sleazy I just can’t even stand to see those dead eyes of his in every picture.
It has already been shown in Florida that drug use among welfare recipients is much lower then the general population, but Republicans don’t care about facts. They just want to hassle poor people.
Maybe it would help the Opposition if Walker looked as Evil as he truly is.
I dare say that if Hitler looked and sounded as bland and hapless as Walker, by the time people actually woke up to him, the result would be:
The Nordic whites among us would all be speaking German, lamenting over the tragic deaths of their darker-skinned brethren.
What does that have to do with anything? Since 1980 there have been three Republicans elected and two democrats, so it isn’t like off-year elections are a guarantee for Republicans. Scott Walker has been the number one target of National Democrats since 2010 and has won two contest, that had high turnout.
There is nothing juicy or good about snotty walker…He is a walleyed bottom feeder owned by the kock bros of the same caliber! Destructive and slime to their core.
These few words say it all. If Democratic voters cannot make the connection with
VOTING-------------------responsible public officials----------------------public policy------------------quality of life
They are literally throwing away representative government, something people have fought and died for.
Thanks for covering this, TPM. Even the ridiculously conservative legislature has pulled back from some of SW’s obsessions. This budget is a direct “thank you, and please bankroll my presidential campaign” to the Koch brothers and ALEC. All the national media does is continue to talk about his frontrunner status…but really, so few people seem to know about his record, which is almost as dismal as Brownback in KS, and is as horrendous as Christie in NJ. Please keep reporting about the destruction of our once great state…maybe the national media will finally catch on.
And you see nothing wrong with corporations who get billions of subsidies yet pay no taxes. That’s what we expect to hear from teabaggers like you!
I really don’t like TPM’s mixing of the ¨5 Points¨ format for news analysis - which this is - versus the ¨sponsored¨ content, such as the Pharma ad on the front page, or the recent brewery legislation propaganda sponsored by IMBEV and Miller-Coors. I’m not ¨Prime¨, so I can’t complain too much about the advertising, but I don’t care for big business advocacy masquerading as news.
