Discussion for article #241519
If you start debating with the “pro-life” forces about whether their abortion images are truthful, you’ve already lost. Images of almost all legal, Constitutionally protected surgical procedures would turn the stomachs of most laypeople. But that doesn’t impact upon a woman’s right to an abortion, any more than graphic images of firearm victims impact upon Second Amendment rights (to the extent those latter rights exist).
But if we’re going to play this game, then every Congressional hearing on gun legislation should be accompanied by blow-ups of the remains of children slaughtered by some lunatic who, thanks to the NRA and cowardly politicians, was able to amass his stockpile of firearms.
Which is that a government bureaucrat best understands what a fetus wants, and that husbands should be required to fill out government paperwork to help the bureaucrat keep track of what’s happening during his wife’s periods.
I agree, but it’s still useful to see the extent to which lying is simply ingrained in the right in general, and the anti-choice movement in particular.
The fact is that, as you mention, showing real images would themselves be difficult to view for outsiders (just like images of any surgical procedure, for that matter), but despite this reality the right does not have the slightest bit of hesitation when using false images instead.
have no problem with lying about what ( insert any issue ) is and what it looks like to advance their agenda.
A better look would be to examine why this is so regarding ALL the issues the GOP now promotes — Their “misdirection” is now just a routine discipline used to advance any and all agenda’s — It has permeated the entire platform and turned the GOP into the “slight of hand party” across the board —
I challenge any GOP candidate to watch the images I swear I’ve seen–little first-grader bodies, blown to bits by bullets from guns.
And the bottom line is that these anti-abortion folks don’t give a rat’s ass about the fetus or the children. All they care about is their money being spent on either and that this is a drawing point for a lot of their voters.
Most invasive medical procedures are not pleasant to look at. Ever watch much footage in an ER? Hell setting a compound fracture can give be the willies. My better half is far more level-headed with that shit than me.
I can deal with my own medical pain, wounds, etc. but seeing it on someone else? There’s a reason I never had an interest in the medical profession for myself.
“Fiorina has refused to back down from her statement…”
Fiorina has refused to back down from her LIE…
FIFY
USE. THE. FUCKING. WORD. When something is proven demonstrably false, it is a LIE. Get it right.
OK, to be fair…
“she’s part of a long tradition of anti-abortion advocates who have no problem with lying about what abortion is and what it looks like to advance their agenda.”
Thank you…albeit indirect, you used the word. Now, let’s see if you can use it directly at a particular statement and person.
I always thought that on their anti-choice billboards, it would be more accurate to have pictures of badly deformed fetuses or other graphic developmental problems, instead of the cute, smiling Gerber baby they always put up. Show a picture of a pregnant grade schooler or middle schooler with their caption of how there should be no choice. I know, honesty, compassion and reality is too much to expect from them.
no 1 stop calling them pro -life there anything but …they see the world as they want it to exist not as it ought to be…they hata freedom they hate choice they hate anything that goes against some pre concived notion of were right your wrong nuff said no matter what the facts may find…and usually against their argument…if they didn’t lie they wouldn’t have anything to convince themselves to get outraged about
Don’t you recall that during GWB’s admin Carl Rove, I believe it was Rove, proclaimed that the GOP had created a New Reality and that we all had to learn to live in it?
How could one forget ? ? —
The full quote (as quoted by Ron Susskind):
> “We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors … and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”
Jesus Himself would rather be aborted than Born Again among these liars and hypocrites.
Abortions are good. Those who have or perform them should be celebrated for their bravery. Those who oppose them may, in rare instances, be moral people otherwise. But most are completely corrupted by the Prince and Princess of Lies. It is time to stop pretending there is a moral argument against abortion that is in the least coherent or intelligent. Even if there are souls in fetuses from the moment of conception, they should not wish to be born where and when the world’s not ready to receive them. If Jesus can reincarnate elsewhere, elsewhen, so can they. To pretend they’d rather be born in hell than wait for a happier time is to lack all compassion for them.
We don’t have to be theologically Christian in a coherent way. But if we are, we have to be pro-abortion. Because pro-abortion is the same as being truly pro-life.
Hey, let’s face it…the GoP represents dark, misleading and destructive visions for this country!
Way understated. Just sayin’
You cannot get a more accurate picture of exactly how much Carly Fiorina is a deceitful, bold-faced dishonest, pathological & conniving piece of scum - all the proof in the world & she will still tell the LIE & push her agenda!
How many times can neoconservatives be mugged by reality before they get that they do not create it???
