Mueller’s office declined TPM’s request for comment,
Has Mueller’s office responded to any request for comment from anyone?? Running a tight ship for sure. I’m impressed by the lack of leaks.
“but he told TPM he has not yet received any interview requests from either the House Intelligence Committee or special counsel Robert Mueller.”
Oh its coming, Corey, its coming. I would recommend you start picking out your outfits. Wear dark colors, as they don’t show the perspiration stains quite as much.
OK I can understand Corey not remembering G Pop’s emails since he was fired the next day, but Page? And with all the people surrounding Trump that had connections with Russia maybe Mueller should start asking who didn’t have connections with Russia.
There will be plenty of time later to publish this historical investigation. For the time at hand any compromise of this black box would be instantly exploited by a wide range of hostile foreign agents and Rupert Murdoch’s disinformation services.
Does this guy even have a lawyer? Seems nuts to be doing interviews, under the circumstances. Kudos to TPM for reaching out, though, and handing him some free rope.
It’s very clear from reading the Page transcript that the Russians knew Page’s itinerary in advance. They knew he was to be in Moscow for a conference on July 7/8th, 2016 and somehow Page was suddenly reintroduced to an old acquaintance, Andrei Baranov, head of Rosneft Investor Relations, and got a meeting with him (in the company of several other people…maybe even Rosneft’s CEO, Igor Sechin?) on July 6, 2016 at a bar in Moscow to watch the Portugal-Wales Euros semifinal match.
So when Lewandowski approved the trip, someone let the Russians know and they created space on Page’s schedule to have this key meeting where Page admits that sanctions and the Rosneft sale may have come up in passing.
Papadopoulos’ missives include alerts about “Russia’s interest in hosting Mr. Trump”; offers to put the campaign in touch with individuals in Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs who were seeking “cooperation” with Trump; and an overture from Papadopoulos asking if he could travel to Russia in Trump’s stead.
Ah. This sounds a lot like that infamous “Bin Laden determined to strike in US” memo that Bush and Rice blew off. Nope, Corey. Nothing to see here…
This is like an amnesiac 5 year-old who is proverbially thrown himself on the floor so he can’t get upstairs to go to bed after bedtime.
Singing “Pattie” Page, Steven “Steve” Miller, “Avenue Strategies” Corey* --Mueller’s turned on the lights in the pitch-black (White)flopHouse–rats and insects scurrying everywhere.
*-More like street-corner
I can smell Corey’s flop sweat from here.
Going with Occam’s razor, and Trump’s, on this one as usual. Law-abiding honesty and personal integrity are prominent among the traits not very highly valued in the Trumpian orbit. And you notice he’s careful to admit only what he’s forced to here and to leave murky any areas where a blanket denial, once a favorite tactic, could come back to embarrass him and damage his credibility in a deposition or in front of a court. The whole gang is surrounded and giving ground step by step. Sad!
“Refresh your recollection,” did it you lying sack of shit?
I’ll bet each new public revelation of your involvement of this criminal conspiracy also does wonders for your “memory.”
This reminds me of how Karl Rove “refreshed his recollection” about something he had lied about to the grand jury after receiving a warning, “Fitz has the email”. It saved him from being indicted alongside Libby for perjury and obstruction of justice. Good times.
Yet another unjustifiably arrogant man swaggering directly into a brick wall.
Republicans are mentally deranged.
.
I am remembering that the term “stonewalling” originated(at least in my consciousness) in the Nixon Whitehouse during the gradual arc of the Watergate story and investigations. From here on out the sequence will be “stonewall” then fall back.
The stonewalling here was supposed to be total containment by having Jeff Sessions in charge at DOJ and loyal Trump obstructionists in charge of the Congressional Intelligence Committees, Mike Pompeo at the CIA, Coats et al. The original plan also included Comey, who Trump apparently thought had played ball with Chafetz and Giuliani’s rogue agents at the NYC FBI Office in releasing information about the Anthony Weiner laptop with possible new HRC State Dept emails right before the election. Trump blew Comey a kiss at the White House reception in January because he thought Comey was his guy. Then he fired him because he was a “showboat.”
On the other hand, there are leaks and then there are leaks.
This sounds like a public service announcement to all those trying to take a bullet for Trump.
At least when Lewandowski was being paid by CNN he could go on the air and lie with impunity, and without his memory being jogged. Amazing what a year, some emails and some indictments can do - better than Ginkgo Biloba.
You know what Samuel Johnson said: “When a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully.”
