The individual blamed for the deletion has issued a strenuous denial.
While there are more copies of the Senate’s torture report
Misleading headline then.
At one point, it was revealed that the CIA had spied on the Senate computers where staffers had been working.
Misleading headline and a buried headline all in one!
Phew! It’s a good thing the CIA never makes backup of their computer data.
Please. Give me a break. Like the CIA couldn’t retrieve it.
I love the puppy!
What is the point of this other than to stoke paranoia about the Obama administration. We’ll see soon enough who will take the headline and make a political play with it.
Oh, please, this understandable, innocent deletion of a Senate torture report pales in comparison to Hillary and her email server. Get with it, people!
IS THis SNARK? Beyond THE PAiL that LIBtards sNARK ABOUT HITLARy literally Murdering DIPLOmats WitH HER SERVer which COUld"VE BEEn HACKED by THE RED Chinese BECause THE DNs Wasn’t TOP SEcret BUT cOULD BE Easily FOUnd BY HACKing the GOOGLe machine.
The history of the C.I.A. is an almost unbroken string of bad intelligence - either faulty intelligence or missed intelligence ("Wow, we never thought the U.S.S.R. would collapse!) - and of covert ops that either went comically wrong, or “succeeded,” but produced consequences that were far worse for both the U.S. and the rest of the world than would otherwise have been the case.
To steal a paraphrase of an old Calvin Trillin line, “now that we’ve all had a good laugh, let’s disband the C.I.A.”
This is no big deal. If they’re asked how the hell it happened they should just tell the Senate committee grilling them they’re being audited. That seems to work as far as not providing documents.
Kind of stinks to high heaven if you ask me…but we are talking about the CIA after all, so no surprise there. The Inspector General (“impartial” my ass) would need his hard drive wiped several times, as I barely understand these things, for the data to be irrevocably able to be retrieved. Can’t say from this article if that’s what happened, but if it did…I call bullshit on the how this all came about.
Oh my fucking god! You’d think a department that has the money they have could come up with some kind of believable excuse if nothing else.
This is surprising, the CIA is usually on the ball. It’s not like they didn’t foresee the collapse of the Soviet Union…oh…wait…
What an incredible nothingburger! So some administrative person deleted ONE copy of a report, of which there are literally thousands of other copies, but somehow this hints of a CIA conspiracy? Sweet Baby Jesus, do you people have a single brain cell to share between you?
Hillary could have prevented the loss of the report but told the CIA’s IT department help wouldn’t arrive soon enough.
Actually, there probably isn’t. I would guess there might be one more copy somewhere else, but the way Capitol Hill handles classified info is really backward because no one trusts the politicians. You have to go to the location of the document, no pencils or paper, and read it right there. There are no copies. I wouldn’t be surprised if the CIA wanted such a tight handle also that they only agreed to one or two copies. It’s really not a matter of having more copies, it’s a matter of proving they exist.
“mistakingly”…??
RoseMary Woods ghost did it…
The Geek Squad was told to stand down. Unbelievable.
According to Yahoo, the nearly 7,000-page report was deleted in 2015. First, a document was “mistakingly” deleted, then the disk itself.
I think the word you are struggling with is “mistakenly.”
So much paper
So few dogs.
