Discussion: The #BENGHAZI Effect: Clinton's State Record New 2016 Battleground

Yep, by lying about and totally stripping out of context (a GOP/‘conservative’ speciality) the correct moves at the time (and now) of not slapping additional sanctions on Iran 10 days after reaching a breakthrough agreement in the Geneva P5+1 agreements on halting the Iranian uranium enrichment program. And confidence building agreement which, by the, eventually lead to a more comprehensive one that has actually eliminated their enriched uranium stockpiles, the substantive goal we all want (save for the “bomb, bomb, bomb” crowd of lunatics).

You never shrink from lying, do you?

And your weak attempt to use one of the logical fallacies to try to change the subject has failed—just as it should do.

I’d like to comment not on the specific content of this piece but
rather on a broader issue related to the media and Ms. Clinton. She
is routinely referred to by many pundits as “Hillary”. I cannot think of
another first lady/senator/secretary of state who was referred to in
the media by first name. Granted, one example may be insufficient
grounds to claim sexism (although I certainly believe it to be), it is
at the very least disrespectful. And I’m sure that disrespect is
subtly intended. (Or perhaps not so subtly?) Mr. Scott is guilty of
this transgression in his piece, and not just in the quotes that he uses.
I first noticed this practice back around the time Ms. Clinton became a senator.
It could have been happening during her tenure as first lady, but
my memory is a bit unclear on this. In any case, imagine, if you
will, the Sunday morning talking heads referring to another senator
or cabinet secretary by first name. George Will talking about “Lindsey”?
Or Maura Liason referring to “Angus” or “Olympia”?
To her credit, Ms. Clinton has risen above it all and has even embraced
it. (Really, what choice did she have.) Let’s try to put an end to this
disrespectful practice. Perhaps all TPM writers will make an effort to
refer to Hillary Clinton as “Secretary Clinton” or at the very least
“Ms. Clinton”, or simply “Clinton”.

Bridgegate was/is mostly a gossip story, in the same vein (pun intended) as the Anthony Weiner story, and never had any real partisan bent to it. It’s not even remotely equivalent to what the GOP is doing with Benghazi - which is taking full partisan advantage of 4 dead Americans. Bridgegate was water-cooler banter for people who don’t give a crap about real politics.

Exactly. Rove is the Leo Strauss of political machination.

yep attack your opponets strength’s since the GOP has no strength’s of its own just the same old weaknesses tax cuts for the wealthy spend more on the military and screw the american people

Her own campaigns have put forward and embraced “Hillary”, so I don’t put much if any stock in this as being some framing hegemony against her.

The fact that her husband was POTUS makes the use of “Hillary” a quick and simply clarifying label as opposed to “Clinton” when discussing politics.

“Benghazi!” is absolutely nothing more than the new “Where’s the birth certificate?”

The depraved and vacuous GOPig Party has NOTHING to offer this country but lies, racism, bigotry, homophobia, misogyny, hate and an infinite supply of culture wars bullsh*t.

The sooner the Republicans and their assorted nutbag filled with rightie loons and batsh*tcrazy FOXbots are relegated to the trash heap of history, the better for this country and our planet.

Saw Darth Cheney trying to be relevant again over the weekend. That scaly, horrifying, rage-addled lizard whose indifference to the countless deaths of innocent men, women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan whose blood is on his hands speaks volumes to what’s waiting for this country once again if his like-minded Rightie Lemmings ever regain the power they had under his fellow war criminal Dubya.

Rectal herpes has more respect than Rightie Republican fascists like Cheney, Kristol and Rove who are pushing the Benghazi Clown Show and the Hillary’s both an Evil Genius and/or a Brain Damaged Drooler agenda.

Get used to this…we probably will hear this same line from a thousand other Rightie Con and Bagger Republican jackholes for the next two and a half years, at least.

Harry: I had the same thoughts. She may be ambivalent and might be making the same mistake Kerry did. The psychology of smear and rumor is that repeating smears can create in some the belief “that there might be something there”. The people who start the smears know that, too. That’s what happened with Kerry.

To Cheney: Check out Dante’s Inferno. Corrupt and evil politicians go to the 9th Ring where the worst punishments are meted out.

Thankfully I missed any of that. What did he do?

How long before we’re treated to the perspicuity of Donald Rumsfeld on all this?

Gawwwwd’…You know IT is coming soon to FOX.

They might go all “retro” too and start shooting watermelons again to prove she murdered Vince Foster.

That actually reminds me, I still need to see Errol Morris’s The Unknown Known about Rummy. His documentary The Fog of War with Robert McNamara was brilliant.

Hillary Clinton’s support of the 2009 coup in the Honduras was beyond despicable.

As Matthew Rothschild at Progressive dot org wrote:

But for the longest time, Hillary Clinton stubbornly refused to call the June takeover a “coup,” even though her boss, the president of the United States, immediately denounced it as such.

She systematically dragged her feet when it came to pressuring the coup leaders to hand power back over to Zelaya.

And when Lobo won the election, Hillary rushed to heap praise on him.

Now she wants full relations with Honduras restored all around.

“Other countries of the region say that they want to wait a while,” she said on her Latin American trip. “I don’t know what they’re waiting for.”

Maybe, just maybe, they’re waiting for the coup leaders to be prosecuted and the human rights abuses to end.

The depraved draft-dodger horror that IS Dick Cheney was on FOX News Sunday. Here’s just a sample of Count Dickula’s insight on Sec. Clinton and Benghazi:
[ She was secretary of state at the time that it happened. She was one of the first in Washington to know about it. I think she clearly bears responsibility for whatever the State Department did or didn’t do with respect to that crisis.

I do think it’s a major issue. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of it yet, and I expect that she will be held accountable during the course of the campaign.]

THAT from a man who lied this country into a war that resulted in hundreds of thousands of people dying or being maimed and traumatized for life, a man who endorsed torture of prisoners of that war in clear contravention of all legal precedent and the Geneva Convention, a man who has never shown one ounce of repentance for his repeated violations of the law WANTS HILLARY CLINTON TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE? !!!
After that my vision just went white with rage and I could only watch intermittently.

It’s incredible that this blood stained puppy strangler can live with himself let alone speak derp about anyone else. It must be the blood from others that courses through his veins that keeps Count Dickula alive.
