Benghazi was Romeny’s Waterloo. Why the GOP doesn’t realize that Hillary can use it in the same way as Obama did in the debates is a real mystery to any sane person. Everytime Republicans try to count coup, they end up clubbing themselves in the head.

You wouldn’t think a political party with the foreign policy record of the GOP would be anxious to discuss foreign policy. Yet here they are. Then again, their economic record isn’t so great, either.

Oh, and during her tenure as Secretary of State, we manage to depose the terrorist-supporting dictator of Libya without getting tied up in a ground war.

Benghazi might be on the radar screen of the Repubs but the overall American public sees that fixation for what it is, i.e. blatant political opportunism. The public is basically ignoring it and not sharing in the faux outrage.
The cognitive dissonance that brought about the GOP’s The Clintons-Killed-Vince Foster and Obama-Is-A-Muslim is now producing Benghazi-mania toward Hillary. The Party of Fear floats adrift. If Ms. Clinton takes a pass on the 2016 election, the psychosis will fix itself to whomever the Dems choose.

With the possible exception of Joe Biden, there isn’t another figure on the stage that has her stature. I guess Republicans have to try to take her down a peg or two just so one of their short people candidates will be able to look her straight in the shoulder.
We didn’t go to war on her watch. She worked hard on the President’s agenda. Most folks think Benghazi reflects the level of risk people accept when they join the diplomatic corps.
I am not worried about Hillary. I am worried about 2014 and the house and Senate in 2016. If Hillary doesn’t have the house and the senate she is going to be as hog tied as Obama.
Republicans seem to be using this season to run potential anti-Hillary messages up the flag poll. In the last week or two we revisited Monica, Last week we saw Rove flail around with Hillary’s slip and fall. Today it is her time at State. Benghazi has been a disaster for Republicans. What’s next Vince Foster?
That is right from every political playbook. That is politics 101. Witness the Obama response to Romney’s ‘strengths’: Business executive experience = Vulture capitalism, ‘saved’ the Salt Lake Olympics = most corrupt American Olympic committee in history. The only one of Romney’s ‘strengths’ they didn’t attack, in fact they praised him a lot for it, was RomneyCare.
There is nothing sleazy about attacking someone’s strengths. That is just how the game is played. And if you can show their strengths aren’t actually strengths, that is how it should be played.
Because they have NOTHING ELSE, hence they are now trying to extract water out of a rock…
So going into 2016, Republicans have an “effort” to reach out to minorities - something destined to fail because the entire GOP platform is “f_ck brown people” - and then they think Benghazi is something the average voter outside of Fox News’ echo chamber cares even remotely about?
I agree with you whole-heartedly, and as I went through my own memory hole, trying to remember the accomplishments of any Secretary of State pre-Madeline Albright (when I became politically aware), the only instance I could come up with was Secretary of State William Seward who under Lincoln signed a treaty with Britain banning the Atlantic slave trade, and under Johnson purchased Alaska.
I’m sure there were other great accomplishments, but that is all I’ve got over 200+years of American history. Kind of sad really.
Republicans are just making us democrats more energized to nominate Hillary as our 2016 candidate for POTUS. The more republicans attack Hillary the more democrats are going to show up to vote in 2016. You would think that republicans would learn from past history. LOL.
This is true, but the difference is that we didn’t have a 24/7 cable news station and several a.m. radio dials devoted entirely to drumming the fake outrage tune over Romney’s record. Politics is cut throat, but the GOP has made an industry out of it and have poisoned the well so much that they’re willing to wreck the country for everybody, just to score a single cheap political point.
Is there anybody here who can do what nobody anywhere has been able to do regarding Hillary Clinton? That is, list her accomplishments as a New York Senator and U.S. Sec of State? Anything? Reset button, anyone? She’s nothing but a failure and is only propped up by the liberal media. Just like her ex-boss.

Have there been any polls done on the public’s opinion about Benghazi? It is of course a ginned up controversy, but how is the larger, less-informed public viewing it?
Republicans are in the middle of shifting their overall campaign strategy for this year in midstream…away from Obamacare and towards Benghazi. Its a very awkward move and a step down for most of their candidates, but they don’t have any better choices.
What else do they have? Immigration reform? Women’s rights? Minority rights? Voter rights? All of those issues are all very negative and risk turning off signficant blocs of voters. The IRS faux scandal has continuely blown up in their own faces time and time again. Benghazi, like Obamacare, is one that pisses off nearly every bloc in their base,and only turns off Dem voters.
It also has the additional plus for them of forcing Hilary into a defensive position in an attempt to get her to either declare earlier than she plans or make her declaration a non event because she IS defending herself so strongly ahead of it. Its a minor point, but they know she is polling so strongly against any candidate they have, that they need every little bit they can get.
