Interesting take from a former ambassador to the Soviet Union, Stephen Sestanovich, on MSNBC. His take, while heavily criticizing Trump (“it makes the president look like an idiot,” “totally brainless”) is that maybe this debacle wasn’t a big win for Putin precisely because it was so outrageous. It isolates Trump and diminishes his power to the point that he can’t effectively do anything to help Putin’s agenda.
