Discussion: Texas Senate Approves Bill To Label Those With Insurance Through O-care

“Nothing is achieved by merely labeling someone as a marketplace patient. It is not helpful and, worse, it could result in providers avoiding patients who they are contractually obligated to serve,”
Well DUH!
That, after all IS the idea. To attach so much stigma to the policies that the people who NEED them stop getting them (thus fulfilling the mantra that “nobody is signing up for it.”)
This has A.L.E.C. written all over it.

Dont blame the politicians…blame the assholes who elected them. If you give a monkey a gun and it shoots someone its not the monkey’s fault…same thing here. Citizens of Texas (and I am one) seem to not think things through and even when this state was democrat, it wasnt “really” democrats so much as dixicrats.

In other news, the rest of the nation who are not Republicans agree that Texas state senators who voted for this should be required to have “Asshole” stamped on their foreheads.

Texas Senate Approves Bill To Label Those With Insurance Through O-care

What, like an armband or something?

Why not just have folks sew “QHP” onto their clothes? The tactic of sewing identifying patches on people’s clothes worked so well for a certain political party in Germany in the 30’s and 40’s.

Sheesh!

Hmmm… I bought my insurance through the exchanges. I don’t get a subsidy as I don’t qualify. I have no problem with that. However, now the Texas Lege decides that my insurance company, that I have my policy with that I pay 100% of the premiums for, has to put some kind of mark on my insurance cards to say how I got that insurance?

I ride motorcycles and I live in Houston, TX. So, if I get into an accident and am unable to talk when presenting at a hospital, am I going to be treated differently because I bought my insurance through healthcare.gov? If so and I can prove it, I’ll sue nine ways from Sunday all the way up to the Supreme Court if necessary. How is this not a HIPPA violation?

Honestly, I just really, really wish the Texas Lege would actually work on issues that are vital for the people they govern and not stupid stuff like this bill and trying to figure out hundreds of ways to circumvent Roe v. Wade… How about some infrastructure bills that might help with the state of our roads and waterways? But those cost money, which means tax issues… Having insurance companies put scarlet letters on their cards doesn’t cost the state of Texas anything.

I wonder what her cover story will be after seeing all of the replies in FAVOR of the ACA on her post? Probably will argue that they are all from outside of her state, if I was going to guess (even though after looking at the people who replied, over 90% of them are from Washington state).

Where do they find these bigoted idiots? They can’t begin to deal with any real problems or issues, but waste time on crap like this. Pathetic isn’t a strong enough descriptor. Jeebus, what a bunch of fools.

The bill’s wording first called for tattooing the subscribers’ policy number onto their forearm… But some legislators objected to the cost of the ink to do so…

Has anybody ever seen a dr office spending time urging people to pay their premiums? counseling them to do so? Pure and simple…scarlet letter stuff .

tgn was being sarcastic…McMorris rogers tried to get horror stories and instead got lots of positives.

This is sick on so many levels. I suspect that some good attorney will run this by a Federal court in the very near future, at least I hope that is the case.

Neurologist Dr. Sara Austin, who testified on behalf of the Texas Medical Association in support of the legislation, argued that the bill would help doctors understand what type of coverage patients have and help them remind patients to pay their premiums.

. . . because the insurance companies don’t remind their insureds to pay their premiums?

I’m blaming the politicians too. It used to be our reps would save us from ourselves.

Why so subtle? What’s wrong with the mark of the beast … 666? Mark Abbott’s state ID with the term “Action T4” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_T4) … it’s what an incurable like him deserves.

Close all bases in Texas, ask the Filipino’s if they want one, I bet they changed their mind on Subic Bay. You want Arid? Ask the Aussies … damn site better company than Jade Helm conspirators.

And no one in charge at TPM cares one bit. GOP talking points get integrated into their stories as facts. Time and time again, TPM becomes more Fox News-lite in its stories. It would be one thing if they did it for both the GOP and the Democrats. But this sort of talking point integration is heavily slanted in favor of GOP talking points. Many of Sahil Kapur’s articles read as if they were written by the RNC.

Oh, I knew you were, but it should be interesting to see how she spins it. Or that she’ll winnow through all of the comments and get rid of any that praise the ACA, keeping any that disparage it.

The Texas State Legislature is comprised of thugs, fascists and sociopaths sprinkled with a few well meaning people that get outvoted.
