Discussion for article #234606
Even the Texas establishment dislikes Carnival Cruz.
Wonât back Cruz until he willâŚ
Cruz will never get the nomination. Cornyn will never have to endorse him.
This gives the GOP establishment an oppty to conduct and leak oppo research on Cruz too.
Big John!
Yes. I recall reading an interview with Cornyn in Texas Monthly last year in which he said, in as gentlemanly a way as possibleâand, by the way, an all-but-lost art in Washington nowâthat Cruz had some things to learn about how the Senate works before heâd be truly effective.
And now, having apparently decided he wonât learn that lesson, Cruz has decided to run for President. I think this is where Cornyn has decided to give up trying to mentor the junior senator from Texas.
Ah, the inevitable Cruz âflame outâ begins just as he dashes out of the gate!!
None of this will be a problem, Ted already has the endorsement of the only person who really matters, award-winning journalist Charles C. Johnson. Can Palin and Gohmert be far behind?
There ! - Paybackâs a âŚ
Cruz is the batshit crazy relative you have to make an attempt to tolerate because he owns stock in the family company (all the while hoping that he has no heirs and dies intestate).
I was hoping to post this, but Johnâs telling me I canât. Thanks John.

Shorter Cornyn:
âF^ck off and die-- you miserable back-stabbing bast^rd.â
OK. That may have actually been longer Cornyn.
But the sentiment is on-the-money.

If thatâs snark? OK.
But otherwise? Cornyn despises Cruz hugely.
Establishment ÂŽs and TX teabaggers are barely bedfellows.

Establishment Râs in Texas thought they could control the baggergeoisie, much as they had controlled the âRight To Lifeâ people. Didnât work out that way.
Not surprising Cruz would love to abolish the IRS. No Republican ever wants to pay taxes.
Which is symptomatic of one of the bigger issues his campaign will have. Funding will be a problem and the establishment (which means the majority of the right wing news) will be staunchly against him.
His candidacy will complicate matters for Bush, and probably Walker as well. And while it is way too early to make any predictions, I will toss this out to chew onâŚ
Of all the candidates over the past few decades on either side, Cruz is the one most likely to attempt to force a brokered convention. In fact, given the likelihood of his failure to get the nomination, it seems one of the few obvious reasons for throwing his hat into the ring.
It was snark. I know Cruz has not made, and will continue not to make, friends among establishment Republicans in Texas.
Cruz is widely known as a smart a*****e. And he stinks tooâŚ
You know . . . given his behavior in the Senate (and, for that matter, given his becoming a kind of auxiliary member of the House), you just might be on to something here. Itâd certainly lively up the GOP convention if he did, thatâs for sure.
