If I were getting gaymarried, I would hope I got someone like this tool who’s doing it through clenched teeth. Then I’d have a quick tongue-based makeout session as soon as it was over.
And I’d sign his juvenile little form with a fake name so Jesus thinks he WANTED to do it.

He should be removed from the bench, pronto. If he cannot keep his “personal beliefs” from interfering with the administration of his duties, then he’s incapable of doing the job EVER. Does he treat muslim and jewish (or other) defendants differently than christian ones? I think he does. And he’s certainly given every muslim and jewish (or other) defendant assigned to have their criminal trial held before him cause to file a motion for him to recuse himself, thus hampering the efficient and economical operation of his court and the court system in general. He has absolutely no right, authority or power whatsoever to refuse to conduct marriages that come before him or force the would-be spouses to lick his jackbooted heels. As an attorney, I can’t even really articulate how deeply this angers me. GET. HIM. GONE.

I find this less objectionable than refusing to do the ceremony altogether.
I think if I were doing it, I’d insist that the judge sign a note acknowledging that I will sign his form but I’d rather not.

Sorry Judge, you cannot place conditions on the law and your carrying out the lawful duties of your job. Perhaps you need some remedial law work. Better yet, resign if you feel the need to express your personal opinions.

Really? “I’ll do it, but you must lick my shoes first as a show of your obeisance to my beliefs, my self-declared superiority and my frustrated desire to discriminate against you” is “less objectionable” to you? This man has literally used his power to try to preserve the institutionalization of his bigotry by making it a legal requirement for gay couples to get married that they first mollify his personal butthurt. I find that outrageous, infuriating and as dangerous a precedent as can exist.
That said, to be fair, I do understand where you’re coming from. I just think it’s an easy mistake to make to miss just how abhorrent and damaging what this judge is doing truly is. You fell for precisely the trap he was laying when you said to yourself “well, at least they’re getting their license and their marriage.”
