Discussion: Texas Guv: Residents Fear A Military Takeover Because Of Obama

Discussion for article #236207

Abbott also echoed Republican presidential candidate and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)
in arguing that Texans’ distrust of President Barack Obama was
influencing their perceptions of “Jade Helm 15.” But Abbott argued that
those perceptions were “misplaced” and said that he was trying to
“instill a sense of calm” for Texans, according to KXAN.

I call bullshit. A sense of calm was the last thing your were trying to instill.

I am still hoping that this exercise is the cover for the U.S. military to pull out of Texas all together. By this stretigic move we can signal Mexico that they can have it all back.

Let us all remember how Texas was discovered in the first place. They first walked west until they smelled cow shit. They then walked south until they stepped in it.

Actually, you mean ‘the Kooks’ are scared of a military takeover.

They were saying something like this when Big Bill was in the White House.

This guy was fueling the idiot fire, and yet another Republican who won’t take responsibility. I don’t know why this still surprises me. You can’t fix stupid, but you sure as shit don’t cater to it. Not his fault though! It’s the distrust of Obama! OHHH of course!!! I suppose the silver lining is, at least we’re seeing a sociological experiment play out in front of us–what happens when an imbecile leads idiots?

Shorter Abbott: “Yeah, we are all racists down here…”

The political and cultural climate in Texas is similar to that on November 21, 1963 and we know what happened the next day. Texas is a haven for right wing kooks.

I agree. He was not only playing into the conspiracy, he fed it even more with his act to send the guard to “monitor” the military. He should have assuaged the residents’ fear by pointing out the training exercises were just like they have been done many many times under other presidents and by calling out Alex Jones and informing them what Jones was spreading was a lie. Instead, the coward Abbot stoked the nonsense and is now blaming someone else for him not stepping up and being a leader he’s supposed to be.

I actually think that for once Abbot is telling the truth, Texas Repugs are afraid of president Blackinstine and that he, Cruiz and others are exploiting racist irrational fears for personal gain.

Don’t mess with Texas, unless of course you’re Spain, Mexico or France. Seems people have messed with Texas…often…and won…often.

Its not going to get better before Obama leaves office. I fully expect teh crayzee to get even more so.

Responsible leadership would NOT pander to the lowest of the low. The Governor’s behavior is abominable.

People coming to this country CANNOT be aware of the populace they’re wanting to mix in with. The mere existence of Pam Geller, Ted Cruz and Steve King should be enough to thoroughly stifle emigration from other nations.

the wingnuts have been demanding a vastly increased presence of the Border Patrol and even full-on militarization of the border for YEARS.

You know, armed federal agents. Who ultimately answer to Obama.

And NOW they are shitting their pants? Sssssh don’t tell them there are already thousands of soldiers on military bases in Texas!

HAHA! Wow, you’re right! If Republicans had any self awareness, they would realize they, themselves, are the best deterrent for “illegals”. No need for a wall, just hold up a sign at the border that says “Pam Geller lives here!”

Asshole.

Honesty at last. If it was any white President, we wouldn’t be worried.

But, well, I mean, you know . . .

The right wing in this country is the exact opposite of what is good and decent in this culture.

The right has been fueling this particular fire since Barack Obama declared himself as a candidate for President. Now, when the paranoiacs have fully embraced the crazy, the only thing that their leadership can do is “blame Obama.”

“Well, you see, we didn’t really mean all those things we said about him, because, you know, it’s all politics, right?”

Well, now the politics are over, and it’s time for the leaders to lead… and a state full of Gohmerts is looking to Abbott, Cruz, et al, for direction.

It’s like the time that elderly woman approached John McCain during a town hall, and rambled on about the President being a Muslim. Except, there aren’t any adults around to calm things down and set people straight.

Be careful, calling for the Right Wing to be good and decent is oppression of their religious liberties and treads on their 1st Amendment rights.
