Discussion: Texas Gov. Rick Perry's Gun Rights Restricted By Indictment

Discussion for article #226671

Obviously he’s unaware of this (as with most things), otherwise he wouldn’t have that smug smirk in his mug shot.

This is Texas. They’ll find a way to let him carry per CHL, indictment (or conviction) or not. This is not about “gun-rights”–it’s about the Good-Ole-Boy network of rich men who still run things here.

If convicted will Perry see his right to vote go away?

Perry has not been convicted…yet. I find it odd that in Texas his gun rights would be restricted.

Yeah, right. Who’s gonna enforce that?

Patriott, do I got this right that you want the fence built so that Texas is on the same side as Mexico?

While that does sound at about Perry’s intellegence level, as for you I guess we know for what country you are not a patriott.

Sadly he will still be shooting his mouth off.

I believe you have misinterpreted what Patriott has posted

Perry won’t need to carry.
He’s got a security detail who does.

His mug shot shows the contempt he has for the process.

He’d shoot his eyes out.

If he is dumb enough to flout it, I suspect Federal Marshals under the authority of the U.S. Attorney for that district.

This stupid bastard has gun rights?

Walker told the paper that although Perry can’t carry a handgun, he can still carry rifles and other long guns.

Oh, what a relief – otherwise he would have to suffer terrible withdrawal pains, I’m sure.

Awwwww. What a shame.

Sounds like a plan.

An indictment could take away Rick Perry’s right to own weapons? Just playing devil’s advocate here, but it sure sounds like an infringing to me. Doesn’t the Second Amendment prohibit infringing?

We’d best call the NRA to be sure.

If he is (temporarily - this is Tom DeLay’s Texas, after all) convicted, will he lose his voting rights?
