Discussion: Texas Border Landowners Vow To Reject Buyouts For Trump's Wall

So the people on the ‘front lines’ are telling trump there is no crisis? Telling trump to go away?

Who ya gonna believe, King trump or your lying eyes.

If the proposed eminent domain makes it through the courts just wait for Bundy Ranch II the smack down. Governor Abbott’s head would be spinning while shouting Jade Helm!

Easy fix. The new NAFTA incarnation can mandate the production of saws or their importation is illegal on the Mexican side of the border.

It’d be interesting to see if there are speculators buying up desolate boarder properties in anticipation of a big government payout. Doesn’t Donald know someone in the real estate business?

He probably chose McAllen because it’s several miles from the actual border.

It’s less than five miles. McAllen is basically a shopping center for Mexicans, the local transit system has bus service running from the international bridge to 10th street, where the mall and several shopping centers are. I don’t think you can get a job there without speaking Spanish, the few Anglos & Asians that live there all speak it.

Nevertheless, it’s not on the actual border like say Laredo or Brownsville. And in contrast to those places, McAllen always looked to me more like a typical Texas town.

Not sure yet, but I’m willing to send Pres Individual 1 to any one of them to check. If he finds one, he can be their supreme ruler.

"The president also ordered soldiers to the border in response to a wave of migrant caravans before the November election. "

A WAVE of migrant CARAVANS?

Stop being part of the problem, AP. Don’t be lazy. Or just fuck off.

Laredo is crummier, but border town it is. I did preferred doing my shopping and banking in McAllen when I lived in Mexico .

You may be thinking of Harlingen, that looked less “bordery” at least it did 20 years ago.

“But Trump’s border wall will last beyond his administration. Building in the region is a top priority for the Department of Homeland Security because it’s the busiest area for illegal border crossings. More than 23,000 parents and children were caught illegally crossing the border in the Rio Grande Valley in November — more than triple the number from a year earlier.”

But we (AP) will not mention the over all statistics from the past 10 years that would put this in context, or interview experts on the subject, or think about other problems that beset the economy, because we are (AP), and that would mean properly researched journalism rather than suppression of facts.

yeah, all them Texas Rancher Liberals you always hear about in the media

So I’m thinking back to the house my grandparents used to live in, which happened to be just across the river from Berlin. House, then access road, then wall, then minefield/free fire zone. The remainder of those properties will have negative value.

Funny, but I thought it was us on the loony left that were all gung ho about the government stealing from private citizens…

A Clive Bundy moment may be in the offing.Great optics! Texans assisted by fellow patriot freedom fighters daring government agents to take away private property.

Likely they think they can sell worthless land for an inflated value. Everyone wins!
