Why is the Warren thing even an issue in MT Senate race? Beyond that Tester’s answer was spot on.
"Thirty women have been missing since the first of the year. One of them have been found. We got a problem here. Why aren’t we fixing this problem out there?”
Only a middling movie, with a white-man saves “Indian” theme, still “Wind River” takes on the issue of violence against Native American women. Hopefully, more attention will be paid to an issue that is currently under the radar.
It’s NOT enough to count…most tribes require 25% but then t hat was NEVER the issue. EVER. She said her parents passed down family lore that she had Cherokee blood and the Cons ran with it. Lying, smearing mofos that will target any competent woman and the Dems that acknowledge their ‘points’. C’mon Tester…just brush it off.
Agreed. “Questions about Senator Warren should be directed to Senator Warren. Now if you want to talk Montana/ my role in D.C …”
Kind of hard to know if that was a good answer without seeing the question(s) he was asked that prompted it. Doesn’t seem like he dwelt on it long or said anything really offensive about her.
no but he COULD have just sent the evil eye at them and continued…
True, but easier to say looking at it after the fact in writing vs live off the cuff.
Good response. It appears that Native responses to Warren’s DNA debacle are mixed. Hardliners are defending what it means to be a Native American, but many single Native voices are speaking up to support for Warren. Not because she’s right, but because she’s someone who will support Natives in addressing their issues.
As a person born and raised in Montana, I find that Tester understands the issues in Indian Country WAY better than his opponent, Matt Rosendale. Tester has lived in Montana his whole life and Native American voters know that he has their interests in mind as he represents Montana in the Senate. He will get the Native American vote because he has EARNED it.
Kate has kind of failed us here. She wrote:
According to a Tuesday Hill report, Tester made his remarks at an event with the Chippewa Cree tribe.
If you read the original story in The Hill, it says:
Tester discussed Warren’s Native American heritage when asked about it by The Hill.
Tester should have told the reporter, “Fuck off. That has nothing to do with me or the reason I’m here. But thanks for trying to perpetuate Toadglans’ insults. He needs all the help you can give him.”
The question here is why is Ms. Riga and TPM essentially doing Cockholster’s bidding by posting this?
There’s so much gotta-fill-the-space reporting just as there’s so much useless often incendiary news in the 24/7 gotta-fill-the-time news cycle
But this was heartening and all about voting from everyone’s Numero Uno hero, Sully
We cannot wait for someone to save us. We must do it ourselves. This Election Day is a crucial opportunity to again demonstrate the best in each of us by doing our duty and voting for leaders who are committed to the values that will unite and protect us. Years from now, when our grandchildren learn about this critical time in our nation’s history, they may ask if we got involved, if we made our voices heard. I know what my answer will be. I hope yours will be “yes.”

Yes, we do have a problem here. It’s your inability to make your verbs & subjects and nouns & articles agree in number. And I already fixed it for you. You’re welcome.
