Discussion: Tennessee Attorney General Backs Out Of DACA Lawsuit Threat

I stand corrected!

There’s a financial cost to repealing DACA as well. WBUR in Boston, citing an open letter signed by Silicon Valley CEOs, reports today that the long-term cost to productivity would be in the neighborhood of $500B, not to mention billions more in lost taxes.

It’s only when the black guy’s in charge that you sue the Government. Nothing has changed to warrant this change of heart, though I welcome it.

Have the Kochs come out in favor of DACA? I assume the Mercers are against it.

Haven’t heard, but I assume they are all against it.

But the Nazi-in-Chief is not a Koch puppet, and now that Bannon is doing his agitating from without the Mercers might not have a direct line to the Oval. Unless of course they’ve got his direct cell number…

Dear Gov. Abbott,
I love undocumented immigrants. I sent Harvey as a reminder of how essential they are to Texas.
Don’t make me have to spell it out for you.

So,“there’s a human element to this”?

Who knew being human would be so complicated?

Loved this video when it came out after tRump announced presidential bid. Be careful what you ask for republicans, you just might get it.

I really cannot even stand reading this story because once a Democrat is back in power (be it Senate leader, SOH, or Pres) the screeching and hysteria will start all over again. In fact, Rush et al cannot wait for it to start again. A salute with a coffee cup? Bare arms on the FLOTUS? A speech, um, anywhere?

Hmmmmm, having his cake and eating it too because he knows trump is going to kill DACA?

Yeah business leaders including Silicone Valley have all told Trump they don’t want him to do this because it will cost them.

It’s extremely unpopular with the public and with business. It’s not just the contractors in Houston but all over the state. Dallas has been in a building boom for the last few years and it’s immigrant labor that keeps that going.

They can bitch, moan and posture, and they can pass their fucking lame-ass “immigration” laws…
But this land was never theirs, they stole it. Now historical karma has come back around, and ain’t it a bitch—karma is not going to bend for the white man. Suck it, scaredy-ass WASPs—pass your fucking laws and shiver in your drawers, 'cause the white man has screwed all the other races. Suck on that, cowards.

For all their talk about being pro-business, Republicans don’t give much of a damn about economic consequences or damage to business when they’re acting out on their grievances and ideological hobby horses. Including, ironically, the ones that are explicitly economic, like tax cuts and the crusade against the Ex-Im Bank.

I think it’s safe to say the Kochs have weighed in:

OT, but does this not blow your fucking mind?

Yeah, it’s always a surprise when a Republican suddenly decides to do something humane. Congrats to Slattery for taking a step that will surely get him labelled a RINO by the majority of conservatives.

This is what I thought all along. I also am convinced that Mitch McConnell knew the Russians were going to assure Trump’s win.

It makes no sense from his standpoint, holding that SCOTUS seat open for Hillary Clinton.

Thank you for that

I think it is relevant. The timing of hurricane Harvey and the sudden, visual need for large numbers of construction workers puts the GOP and Trump in a bad place. Now they’re stuck . . . rescinding DACA right now is really bad for a red state and for Trump’s public image if the Houston area remains a disaster for years. My best guess is they try to do something short term and get rid of DACA completely once the heat dies down.
